Title: How to get more FPS?

Hi Guys,
First of all thx for a great work u done! It like returning to my childhood 8)
Well, but I have one problem - games are running really slow, I tried to disable sound - it wont help.
What should I do to make games running fast?
Any suggestions?

hi there

disabling sound *always* gets a few extra FPS....  has to be properly switched off tho, not just mode-changed.

what games you trying to play? those with lots of scrolling (driving games like Lotus, Out Run, Supercars etc) still play really poorly, although SWOS scrolls, and can be played without sound. better games are those with still-screens.... IK+, Prince of Persia, Mousetrap etc.


i assume your putting  bit of manual frameskip on? hte least you'll ever get away with is frameskip 2 at the mo.

alas, the whole-thing is quite game-specific at the mo.... the worse they are coded, the worse they play too.

I tryed on Dynoblaster first, working really slow. Next game was - Shufflepuck Cafe, same result mouse is jumping when you move cursor.
Made up 1 frame skip.
Maybe there is some more way to speed up game?
And... keeping in mind what you told me - I guess Settlers will be reeeeeeeaaaaallly slow? As it is complex game with lots of animation etc.

Try frame skip set to 3, works for me. I always set sound to mono and mem to 1 meg, I find this runs most games okish
