Hi guys

The savestate list has disappeared from the right hand side of the website! It happened ages ago, but I just never got round to posting about it- any reason? Or am I simply being retarded? It was really handy, and often had more files on than the download links on the site.

Also, any news on a Worms savestate? What about Stuntcar Racer?

Anyway, excellent work- it's been great playing the old games again.

Hi, your simply being re.....ermmmmm, ;). I already posted about states moving, ;), they are under Downloads now, ;).

Im still working on Worms, up against some issues, ill if i can can sort both tonight.

EDIT:- Added both to Downloads section, with worms you might have to add some controls, and on Stunt Car Racer, Circle is fire, X is UP, Square is down and analogue stick is steer.

No problems, if you find they crash, load them again, some seem to crash on first load. Will have to look into as its been happening for a while now.

Just wish others would ask, as you have been the only 1 to request states, ;).

thinking about it, im sure you can set worms to use a pad instead of mouse + keyboard.

from there, jump is bound to be one of the coloured buttons! (definately not Red though ;)  )

hmm.. more details on pinball dreams?

works fine on mine... although

a) you might have to load the savestate twice
b) you need kickstart 3.0
c) one of the tables is disabled if you are without a whdload keyfile.

as i said, it requires a whdload keyfile (you could put one on an ADF labelled "s:" and in sert that, and it should work i think

Now I've tried putting the WHDload.key on ADF's with the names "DEVS", "S", and "1", but I cannot get the second Pinball Dreams board (Steel Wheels) to work.  When I try loading the board, I see the CLI, and I am asked for the missing device with name "1".

Procedure to reproduce:
- Download Pinball Dreams savestate from pspuae.com
- Copy the savestate to the PSP, and load/start it inside pspuae
- Go to config, insert the whdload.adf into DF0
- Go back to the game, load the second board
- "Please insert missing device with name 1"

s'cool monti, i think i know exactly what your problem is... it just means i may need to re-produce the savestate, with registered whdload users in mind, as i dont think it is checking for the keyfile correctly (it may assume you are unregistered in the pre-load process) ...  i know i allowed for this with the savestates for the xmas pack, but in hindsight, perhaps i was somewhat lax regarding the on-site states and this issue.. as tbh, i never expected anyone to bother registering!

thanks for bringing it to my attention, i'll try and get a replacement state up that alllows for this (or if you pop into chat when i'm in, i can send you the files to build your own registered savestate)

sorry for the inconvinience!

edit:

after it fails...  you could perhaps try typing into the CLI the following....
(with the S: lablled whdload.adf inserted into DF0:)

whdload slave=pinballdreams.slave preload nowritecache

and hit enter... it should load the game again from ram: having already saved the data there in my loading process.

I tried this (quite cumbersome to write all this with the onscreen keyboard, though), but it still requests the device named "1".

sorry monti, i have been very busy of late, i have my brother's wedding coming up this weekend, much music stuff i've had to sort out for people, and various other bits & bobs that have lowered very much the priority of savestates for me.

ive uploaded for you the 2 pinball dreams savestate boot disks

http://www.djcresswell.com/PDbooter.zip

use as follows:

1) Load the Pinball dreams config file from before.
2) reset amiga on pspuae, and wait for kick 3.0 bootscreen
3) in menu, insert in DF0:  PD1.adf and in DF1:  you keyfile on disk. (make sure the amiga lable for the disk is S: or DEVS: )
4) wait for the first few files to be unpacked/installed.
5) DOS will ask for "2:" to be inserted. Put PD2.adf in DF0:
6) wait for more unpacking, and DOS will ask for "1:" to be inserted.
7) put PD1.adf into DF0: the registered-whdload splash should appear.
8 ) wait for the screen to go black, wait a further 1-2 seconds and re-save the savestate, either in the  1-5 slots, or as "PD1.state"
9) if you like, rename the savestate from windows later on , to PinballDreamsRegistered.state or something, and rename Pinballdreams.config to the same naming standard.
10) enjoy playing Pinball Dreams on pspuae.

hope that helps.

hmmmmm, WHDLoad is nothing to do with us. We are not associated with it in anyway, we just use it like everyone else, and would urge all people that do you use it, register it, as its an awesome piece of software.

For more info on it, head over to their homepage, http://www.whdload.de

There you go TheRealSlim_Mafoo, Silkworm Savestate (http://pspuae.condor.serverpro3.com/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item213)

The game itself MIGHT be a bit buggy in later levels, but I dont think there is anything I can do about it, if you have any problems just give me a shout and Ill see what I can do, maybe I can find a better version. It is usually pretty smooth and is a great game to play on PSPUAE, so have fun.

Your probably better off playing the disk versions of those PD games for now, but they will get done as soon as possible. PD disk images shouldn't be too hard to find and they are not illegal from what I know(very little ;) ). I have found llamatron in the right format so Ill be making that today or tomorrow for you.

Just ask if you can think of anymore you would like to see, it gives me a bit more motivation to get off my arse and actually do it.

Man the community seems concerned about pirated games on Amiga? WTF? It's a dead dead system for many years now, most of the companies are defunct? They should opensource all Amiga games! Amiga was once the Defacto of Computer Entertainment but Commdore Blew It! I wish like hell it would have beaten out Windoze and at the very least Apple but it didn't AMIGA RIP. I for one own all the games I actually bought on the Amiga plus abut 50 more or so and I won't ever loose any sleep! . I also don't currently own all the kickstarts but I have d/l roms ;) IMO the only ones that deserve any $$$ are the Devs that allow us to play and live out our Retro Gaming Experience's on the Almighty Amiga.

Hell it's late and maybe I have drunk too much and ranting, oh well

Hmmmm, you just said some things you shouldnt have (Drink does odd things to people, good job i dont drink, lol). Its only a dead system if you let it. Some amazine programs are still being delveloped for the Amiga, namely WHDLoad. The Amiga OS is still being developed also.

The kickstart roms are still copyrighted and sold in the form of Amiga Forever. Who are trying to keep the Amiga alive, so please buy their product if you want to relive your Amiga years on your PC (the Amiga Forever kicks are not compatable with pspuae at present).

At the end of the day, if the authors of the games / software do not want to make it open source then thats there choice.

Dont know what else to say, just please think before you type you drunket, ;).

skate - llamatron is on my list if you read it - i have install disk for that an Mutant Camels already

oh and most the amiga bods here know my opiniion on the matter - kickstarts should be free, just like the zx speccy. encourage emulation and save the system! it works

i understand a games companies rights to deny distribution of a game (as some have on world of spectrum.org) but i still think its a bit of cheek for 15-25 year old games.

thankfully most companies seem to have actively encouraged it on the speccy at least... perhaps one day we'll see an amiga resource doing something similar.

oh yeah, and say "no" to pirated whdload!

Im not a fan of the drink either, light one up instead! ;)

At the end of the day, I reckon its all about royalties and consideration. Alot of these games are still being sold, so you cant say that they are not making any money out of it. Most of these developers support emulation and the free distribution of their old games across the internet, but its not up to them. Companies buy these franchises and start converting them across to the mobile market(phones, PSP, DS, etc).
Another World is one example, its a great success on mobile phones and still makes a decent amount of money. Dont forget that a new market has also opened up on consoles like the 360,ps3,Wii.

At the end of the day these games can still make alot of money, and alot of bad spinoffs.

Cool horace, for my reference, was the original called Llamatron 2114?
Title: Re: Wanted
Post by: Hungry Horace on July 13, 2007, 05:35:07 PM
well Llamatron had the somewhat flippant sub-title "Llamatron: 2112"

however, it was just reference to the arcade game "Robotron 2084" which minter blatently ripped off.

hmm well  :o
I was thinking and I am sorry my Friend Amiga is DEAD in the real world. Games that are 15-20 years old should not be copyrighted nor should the kickstarts. I don't need Whdload and I don't need you preaching to me about how they are trying to keep Amiga alive. There is a small I mean an incredibly small following for the Amiga and it's not really commerical except for a few online places.
If there is new software for Amiga that I would use then sure I would not mind paying for it, but I really only have one use for Amiga now and that is games. Games created by companies that no longer exist or have been bought and sold many times over. You and and all of the defunct developer/companies could learn from Cinemaware and make the software for a system that really only lives on in emulation open source. I am grateful for the emulation programs and I was mad as hell  :-[ when Amiga bit the dust (and not I dont consider gateway and others Amiga).
FREE AMIGA!

no one is preaching. whdloadis a currently in development piece of Amiga software... .you cannot deny that - be it used for emulation or for those die-hards with real amigas. (of which i think there are more than you care to notice!)

if you dont need whdload.... make sure you dont use the save-states on site, as the develpers there put in a lot of hard work on a "dead system" just so we can enjoy the games better. we wouldnt be able to make half of the save-states without their hard work.

Hello ;D

I would like to request a R. I. S. S. for Ultima 6 :)

There are two versions out there, a 3 disk HD install version, and a 4 disk ready to play version.

What would be faster? I think the HD version is better, because of reduced loading times... But you can't do itif there's not a WHDLoad version, right?

If so, I suppose that a 4 disk version would suffice :)

Thank you for your time :)

Making it all free would not help the Amiga scene at all  :'(
Amiga games and hardware is ridiculously cheap these days, so unless your a cheap skate ::) you dont really have a decent excuse to want it all for free.

As for all the recent requests, I will do a couple tonight, if someone hasn't already done them.

BTW, is there a donation box on the site or is it not practical/useful?

Couldn't you load up the game, then save the state yourself? Thats what I did with SWOS once my career was going (it didn't like starting a career from the savestate downloaded from this site for some reason).

If you save state from an adf, then you need both the adf file and the savestate on your MS, plus the loader loading times cause your using the floppy. A R.I.S.S. will give you 1 file (and a config), with no need for adf anymore and the loading is faster.

Did you have CPU CYCLE EXACT set to on in the CHIPSET menu, as this is a know problem, SWOS needs this turned on or it crashes when using career mode.

Thought I would point this out, when you load the states, if its using chipset speed, check it, as it might default to 31% if its a 0.62 state. Up it to 85% and then see how it goes, if not just adjust it some more either way.

Also, you might have to adjust the FS, as it might run to slow or fast, use atuo FS.

It only has a manual copy protection after a while that you have started a new game.

Amiga version itself was ported from PC and due to a lack of reprogramming it was very slow.

Yeah, but... There's no WHDLoader installer on WHDLoad support site :P

So, I'm even thinking of doing the R.I.S.S. myself (not so much problem, after reading your guide, Horace :) ) but now I have a doubt...

If there's not WHDLoader installer, can I make something like this?

1) Install the HD version of the game in WinUAE in an emulated HD
2) Follow the standard procedure, but this time, I lha the HD files
3) Create a startup-sequence on the first ADF where it extracts all in RAM
4) Always using the startup-sequence, try to start-up the game like a normal HD installation, but this time from RAM
5) If all goes well, Save-State :)

What do you think, guys? It's possible? :)

Maybe I should just try it myself :)

The PC version is a great game, but the Amiga version was a little rushed...  ;D If HD-installed, it requires launch from Workbench! :P

Yeah, I know. Some HD installed games have no problem starting in simple AmiDOS, but, like Ultima6, there are others that require Workbench.

Most of the save-states use WHDLoad, and WHDLoad resolves all those strange problems :)
But there's no WHDLoad Slave available for Ultima6, so no means to use the HD install on PSPUAE :P
Title: Re: Wanted

i have never seen an HD install that actually "needs" workbench... it will run for amigados, provding you have all the required libraries etc.

this is often why a game will seem to not load "directly" from dos, on a self booting partition... it just needs access to something that workbench has.

I'd like to request Valhalla 1 2 and 3, if possible, I LOVE those games.

...although I expect Vulcan won't give permission as they now sell them as episodic PC games...

I still have my Vulcanology AmigaCD, but have never been able to get it to work on an emulator... so if you need any files I can get them to you...
(It has Valhalla's first 10 games on it: Jetpilot, Burnout, Tiny Troops, Timekeepers 1 & 2, Bograts, Hillsea Lido, Valhalla 1 2 and 3)

Valhalla: Before The War

these two are on www.whdownload.com - but Valhalla & The Fortress Of Eve does not even have a whdload install - whilst for (regular) "HD Install" , HOL classes it as "unknown."

i would like to play them at some stage, as they have always intrigued me... hopefully some mug will take up the request - at least for the pre-installed WHDload two ;)

@ porthose

i would like to apologise for not having done Zeewolf before Valhalla / Tiny Troops....

its only that there are lots of trainers on Zeewolf 1 AND 2 WHDLoad which i would like to add to the menu screen - along with the option to play both games from a single savestate (since they are both only 1 disk games)

this takes slightly longer to do (i have to create the GUI!) but is worth it i feel

i have created the Valhalla boot disks, and one for Tiny Troops... however - i have no idea of the controls for either.... (as i have never played them) - i would especially like to know any keyboard shortcuts / extra keys please Kevling

Your .adf's are not loading?

If this is the case, please can you mail em to me, as I have 1 other person complaining their .adf's arent loading.

i will upload a valhalla RISS boot disk to ftp, which does the same.

first one i've had like this too.

given that the disk is DD and created as normal in winaue, i think its probably a name / directory contents bug (it wasnt placed alphabetically either) rather than some kind of crazy unsupported ADF type

Worms: The Director's Cut (AGA)
Zool 2 (AGA)
Zool: Ninja Of The ''Nth'' Dimension (AGA)
Zool: Ninja Of The ''Nth'' Dimension (CD32)

secondndly.... loads of them are already in the downloads section as RISS or are copies / alt versions.

do you really need 3 versions of swos? or both 1 / 2 disk versions of Lemmings?

all this does is make more work for us, for what are essentially the same games.

Thirsly, those are not hardfiles on www.whdownload.com - they are pre-installed WHDload packs.

if you read the RISS FAQ, you will see we already use these where we can ;)
Title: Re: Wanted
Post by: skateblind on September 30, 2007, 01:45:32 PM
Seems a bit pointless to me, I don't see why you would want all the version of swos, the 96/97 version is the best and from what I can tell has everything that the previous versions did. Maybe SS International would be alright, but it still has nothing new from the SWOS versions.

So are there any games left on that list that are sensible to make?

Seems like for Lemmings 2 I'll have to play it on ADF though. Since it's a WHDLoad regitstered edition only state.

Lemmings 2 does not require registration to play.

there is simply a delay between the intro and the game, as they work from seperate slaves. (which actually saves us some memory too) - this is why the RISS has the screen regarding "limited functionality" for non-registered WHDload users.

tbh I just prefered the style and interface of M+M2 ...  I never got further than the second or third town...

But the idea that on MnM3 the characters are not made up in my head... and take up most the screen puts me off...  I liked creating midgets and the like with not having a clue what they looked like... ...  although the idea that theres something with spaceships kinda makes me wanna give it a try again  ;D

never tried waxworks... saw it in a cuamiga magazine and looked ... odd :>  - is it actually any good ?
Title: Re: Wanted
Post by: tunch on December 30, 2007, 04:18:35 AM
To be honest - I never really got that far In Waxworks - the version I had was a little buggy - it was also 10 disks long!! But there was something about it. Lure of the Temptress was like Monkey Island.

I might have a go at creating a save state myself for Lure. Any advice on settings for this sort of game?

Premier Manager 1,2,3 , Man Utd Europe (*spits*) - none of these have WHDload installers - if any of them  are DOS they may still be possible to install however.

Doody is PD, and therefore will probably be DOS. Should be easy.

Blues Brothers, Goal, Pacmania, PGA European Tour, Mutant Camels all have whd's and will be added.

PD games I'd like to have done too if possible please:

Atoms (Tom Kuhn version that came on Amiga Format disk, pic at link (http://amr.abime.net/amr_popup_picture.php?src=amiga_format/magscans/af046_1993_05/007.jpg&c=19650) Had funky music :) )
Extreme Violence
Bip
Quickmoney
Tanx N' Stuff
Gravity Power/Force
Platman
Deluxe Galaga
Drip
Megatron
Dragon Tiles
Scorched Tanks
Wibble World Giddy
Snakes (from The One coverdisk number 59b)

I think those are all the ones I used to play loads back in the day.  Probably forgotten one or two more though.

I know some of these are multiplayer only and a little pointless on PSPUAE at present but I'd like them even for the music in some of them and the warm fuzzy feeling on seeing them appear on the handheld.  Will understand if you choose not to do them though.

Love that game!  ;D

It's even better played with an online opponent.

BTW, it's full name is 'Biplane Duel (http://hol.abime.net/5369)' , although the version to use is called 'Salmon Pink Max (http://hol.abime.net/5370)' since it can have a computer opponent.

I dont understand the need for a RISS through, since the game loads in one hit anyway.  ???

Bip

Love that game!  ;D

It's even better played with an online opponent.

Can you point me in the direction of an adf for SalmonPinkMax? I can only find the WHDowload on Lemon Amiga?

Huh? Whats that supposed to mean?

PSPUAE has a keyboard and besides you can map all keyboard keys to psp buttons / button combo's. If there is a RISS it will be already setup ready to go and have a readme of button config.
Title: Re: Wanted
Post by: gonzouk on August 25, 2008, 02:00:31 PM
I mean I've hardly used the keyboard on any games on the Amiga via the PSP as it has needed to be used, but now is the time to try it out, after that Final Frontier.
Title: Re: Wanted

you have found the hardest part of using pspuae! lol

find your chosen game, then look on lemonamiga for the game manual, then map the keys to your psp buttons, so you dont have to have the keyboard on the psp screen.

most games are very simple, some - like silent service and f29 retaliator are alot more work  ;)

Knowing the Amiga keys is fine, but remembering which key is mapped to which psp button makes it 10 times harder, :).

look at my bloodwych riss, and you'll find a readme file telling how the key-combos are mapped... this is what should be done with all RISS with non-standard buttons.

I know for a fact Super Hang on works even faster on 0.72 FAMEC!

not quite any game! lol, I've given up on quite a few.

feel its much better to concentrate on the ones that run well on 0.72, then try them on FAMEC version, some good results.

It's worth the effort in my opinion, pocket amiga gaming! sweet!  ;)

Yep, :). I have all FTP stuff backed up twice now, not going to risk loosing anything again.
Its already prooved itself. My NAS decided to update and it screwed the whole drive, but within a few hours I had restored it all via my NAS backup drive.

You still have access? I can move all AO stuff to your folder, if you want.

EDIT:- Scratch that, you already have all bloodwych and AO stuff in your dir.

Greetings,

Hungry Horace, I saw your link to the SynchronatedSwos website http://www.ultimateamiga.co.uk/index.php?topic=8898.0

I saw that you wrote "the SWOS Updates from Syncronated, and excellent way to keep SWOS up to date with new teams.... "
Are there any tools available to update the RISS you created back in 2008 for SWOS Amiga Online Edition?

If not, could you find it in your heart to update the RISS with the 2011 team data?

Sensiblesoccer.de has this version http://www.sensiblesoccer.info/forum/index.php?topic=18414.0 which would be epic.

Thanks.

Unfortunately not available here any more. I don't know if anyone else has them uploaded somewhere else though.

Was there an issue with hosting them?  Been checking for a bit before asking and it's nowhere to be found.  Maybe a member can upload them and share a link.  Thx

RISS are dead guys.

Yes, there was an issue with hosting them, and we took them down due to increased visibility with other projects.

I am looking at getting Amiberry ported to the PS-Vita anyway, negating the need for RISS anymore, since we will add HD support and the emulator speed will be much better.

Please put the RISS files up somewhere. If nothing else then as a giant torrent.

Not everyone has or wants a PS Vita. C'mon guys show some love for your PSP fanbase.

We had to remove them.
Just for the record, Vita is junk. It hardly has any games. Seems it peaked with PSP.
Vita is only good for streaming XBOX ONE and Nvidia games.

I love my Vita .... beautiful screen, perfect PSP and PS1 emulation, Ps4 streaming and now a decent amiga emulator in uae4all (although still far from perfect when it comes to HD emulation!)

I agree up until PS4 streaming. PS4 suck compared to XBOX Game Pass and EA Origin. Sony will never learn.
I pay for PS Now and I cant even stream games from that to Vita. They don't allow it.
Yet, I can stream, from XBOX as much as I want to everything. Sorry for me, Sony have just lost their way and all this Multiplayer crap online, is doing my nut in. I would rather Single Player campaigns and Multiplayer as a bonus, not game based completely around Multi online play. Boaring.
