i cant really express how much this port means to me.
I find it really upsetting that lots of people seem to forget or have not heard about the old amiga.
It wipes the floor with the mega drive and the snes,
on hearing that the the emu had been picked up and devloped on again i sang with joy!
and WHAT joy sensible world of soccer works pretty nice now and i can save it!
a true treat!

HAIL !
I got my first C64 when I was four years, and became pretty fast addicted. When Amiga came, it felt like a continuation of the same magic, later there was nothing that really captured my heart beside handheld consoles.
Now, if I can get a full-speed Amiga-emulator on PSP, I will definitly die with a great grin on my face. Hehe...

I had an Atari 800XL before my Amiga, the speccy was my brothers. Horace I take it you got the best and final Speccy, the +3. They were awesome, boot up using tape, then press special button on kempston interface and save the game to FLOPPY. Damn, I used to get excited by that.
-
actually i only had the orignial grey +2 back in the day! (built in tape drive on a 128k machine... the first to be made by amstrad)
the +3 belonged to a mate of mine, but he sold it to me with an amiga, a gameboy and a bunch of other crap years ago.... i'm only now restoring it to its former glory! (it has a blue-LED now, i'm fixing the sound problem as we speak, and i may not bother getthing the disk drive fixed, as i may look into getting an HD for it :o)
currently i load "tapes" off my ipod! (what great use of a 60gig ipod THAT is!!)
the thing u are talking about is the Multiface thingey... kinda like an Action Replay cartridge... man they looked good!!

Horace you like the new logo, with conrad falling into the PSP, ;)

I must say I was amazed when I first loaded this up and saw how well it ran. I've got fond memories of the Amiga and it's great to play these games again.
The one game I'd really like to play is the mighty Sensible World of Soccer, but no matter what settings I use I either get the infamous 'Guru meditation' error or the PSP just shuts down.
If someone could list the settings that work for SWOS I'd be extremely grateful.
Thanks

check this thread here (http://www.condor.serverpro3.com/pspuae/index.php/topic,11.0.html) - for how to run SWOS 96/97.
not sure if its's really in the right place though....
-
Thanks for the reply. I think my problem was using a dodgy 3.1 rom, so I'll check it out with 3.0 later when I get home from work.
-
Well I'm closer now to playing SWOS but still not quite there.
I used the settings from the other thread (OCS, Kick3.0, 512Chip, 1024Fast) and the game seemed to begin loading, but then reported that 1meg of compatible ram is required. Every time I increased the chip ram beyond 512 my PSP just shut down.
So, a couple of things. Do I need to report this limit on chip ram as a bug or is it a known problem?
Also, my memory isn't the best. Were there different versions of SWOS for 1meg and 512k Amiga's? If there was a version for 512k hopefully I can at least get this to work.
-
sounds ike you arent resetting pspuae after changing the memory settings, because if it say that error, then you are emulating less than 1 meg.
1.5 meg is the current max (total) memory for pspuae on 1.5, so dont push it beyond that. (it's even less with e-loader)
different versions of swos play off the same disk, although it may requre the AGA chipset to do the enhanced version (or it may just need 2 meg of chip - i forget)
i kow it works, because at the moment its the game i'm playing the most on my psp!

Woohoo, success. After trying what seemed like a million different combinations I think I know what the solution is.
I had to boot up the Kick3.0 rom without a game, then insert the game disk. I think this was the biggie as it always got further doing this. Once I'd figured that out it was just a case of getting the settings right. Finally, in desperation I reset to the defaults and just changed to ECS.
I see there's a compatibility database which is a great idea. When I next get a chance I'll confirm what settings I used and if different to the database I'll post them up.
Thanks for the help Horace. BTW, whats a Spectrum character doing on an Amiga site?
-
whichy version / crack of SWOS are you using?
only ask because the 96/97 copy i used *only* works with OCS and crashes with ECS !
