Title: PSP 2000 and an extra 32meg
Post by: ParaSitius on July 18, 2007, 01:31:24 PM
Just read a report on The Register (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/07/18/sony_psp_slim_tweaks/) which says that the new PSP may now possibly have 64 meg in it's guts.

Is this in any way something to get excited about for you guys who are putting together the best Amiga emu on the planet?

Yeah, it's true, but I don't think it can be used so easily.

Many say that there are two parallel 32meg, and not a single 64meg, and the second 32meg one can only be used like an UMD Cache so that games will load faster :)

oh, that does make sense actually sappo - i can understand how that might work, given the recent comments about loading on the new models.

good - wont affect us then :)  especially not if FOl cant be bothered (i guess fol, we could set up a paypal donations box to buy us all new psps though ;) )

Yeah :) I don't think that Sony would create something like new Firmwares (because to use that extended RAM a specific Firmware is at least necessary) and Games just for New PSPs :)

....Or maybe... yes? Naaah.  ;D

The one and only reason to buy a PSP Slim is the TV out function!

that and the weight, the better screen, the UMD caching / faster loading, the new TV reciever, and the oodles of other things i am worried Sony might do to actually make the PSP-2000 model appealing.

anyway, if all you want is TV out, you might as well buy an ipod video - you'll get 60 gigs of storage that way,  rather than spending money on over-priced memory cards, and at a much cheaper cost than the new PSP.... and you can get the cable for under a fiver.

Yeah, but that's pretty bulky, and requires opening and soldering on your PSP. Instead, the new TV Out would be perfect for PSPUAE :)
Old memories live on the big screen ;D

About the iPod video price, the 80gb one goes around 300$ :P Personally, I would go with PSP Slim ;D

you pay that for an ipod video - you are being majorly ripped off.

maybe they are cheaper in the EU

?  Why are you even talking about this?  There wont be an exploit found for AGES yet- rendering the psp useless!

I'm from EU, and here they cost 400$. I lowered the price to 300$ because I know that they cost less in US, but I didn't think that we were ripped off so badly :P

So that's why I said PSP Slim, because here Ipods cost a loooot of money :o

About exploits on PSP Slim, 0okm already said that the board is a TA-085, and I've seen a movie where I can clearly see that the Slim PSP is a 3.50, so you can go with Lumines. So, the only thing that we would need, would be an idStorage changer, thing which is really easy to do for Noobz and other PSP Hackers :)

All this only if Sony doesn't change the firmware just before launch just to make us angry and homebrew-less :)
