Title: Frame Limiter and Floppy Sound...
Post by: sappo on July 19, 2007, 11:31:41 AM
Hello Guys :)

I'm now intensively testing PSPUAE with some of my games that didn't run well in 0.62CE :) They now all run perfect (I'm amazed how the Chipset setting can do so much in some games!)!

Because of so, games that ran perfect on 0.62CE now run TOO well ;D

Here comes the idea of a frame limiter. Many PSP emulators for older systems use it :)
Just something that would keep the frames not going over 50/60, so that some games will not run too fast! :)

Another suggestion is the Floppy Sound, like in WinUAE. I really like it, being a nostalgic ;)
I don't really know if it could be memory consuming, so I'm suggesting it, but no problems otherway :)

Just a thought... Adding AGA would slow down the code, right? Not that I need it so badly :) Only curiosity.

Thank you again! :D

Most of what you said made sense... until you got to the AGA part...  I'm pretty sure AGA wont be implimented in the near future, or even at all... - but thats me talking about winfellow now ;)  - I'm sure it'll be the same for this emulator too...

PS: I dont think either horace or myself will have any use for the floppy sound thing as we all use whload save states now to load the games hehe ;)

Yeah, the AGA part wasn't a suggestion, was a thought + question :) I don't really need AGA, so if it won't be implemented, no problem :P
Just a curiosity, because I remember something about the slowness that it would bring to PSPUAE :)

R.I.S.S. are a great thing, but I have a whole load of games that don't have a R.I.S.S. :)

You guys are already too busy with the other R.I.S.S. and the emulator :)
And I don't really mind about waiting a minute or so for playing some great games :)

Don't forget that on the great Amiga we hadn't R.I.S.S., so I'm used to that ;)

I'm working on a R.I.S.S. myself (not Ultima6, and luckily this time there's a WHDLoad slave :)), but for some strange reason my emulated fresh hd-installed WB 3.1 crashes  :o

EDIT: Resolved, 68060 incompatibilty :)

no, on my a1200 i dont have RISS... i have a harddrive - even better!

honestly, please just request them - even if we take a while to do them, i'd rather know that they will be used when they are eventually done.

i assume yuou only need wb3.1 on winuae, for setting the load-disks up?

try

http://classicwb.abime.net  for a pre-isntalled WB. though you will need to "verify" the HDF, with a copy of workbench 3.0 or 3.1

Ok, I will post some request soon :)

Yeah, I've already tried 3.1, WHDLoad gives a LOAD of problems on it. :P
The thing was that I erased my 3.9 HD some hours ago, because of problems with Picasso96 :o Back at installing it, now :)

Frame limtier, set frameskip to Auto. It tries to keep it at 50 FPS. As for other emulators stopping it from going over 50, let me know when you fine 1, as i have been looking at alot of other sources for stopping it going over 50 and i havent found 1 yet.

Floopy sound emu, its not in current source. We are not going to compile the new WIP of E-UAE as the author has said, its a mess and he is going to fix it. So until then floppy sound will have to wait.

AGA, has already been discussed, and will be added at some point.

floppy sound is pointless imho.... but the limiting thing we have discussed before many times.

i've never noticed DGen going over 50/60  FOL...

sure there must be a way ;)

Ok thanks FOL.

I use rarely Auto frameskip, because sometimes it will put Frame Skip to 8 with no apparent reason, and good frameskips are 1-3 :P

If I remember correctly, Snes9x_TYL has it :)

Otherwise, I'm pretty sure that CaSTaway PSP has it :)

Try using auto with Chipset option, as it does go high when using cpu max sometimes as its struggling.

Castaway, is a no no, myself and thinkp asked for the source to update it, but the author never replied  to me, :(. Snes9x_tyl, ill take another look at, im sure i looked at it before.

@Horace, psp dgen is a no no also, no source, its not open, :(.

Do they not have to release the source? I thought it was part of the GNU thing.

You and thinkp asked to update CaSTaway? You're my heroes! (You too, Horace :)) :) Great emulator, but sadly, it has been abandoned.
It's a real shame that codejedi doesn't respond anymore :(
