Title: PS3 linux
Post by: EmuChicken on February 28, 2010, 05:24:06 AM
Just wanted to ask if anyones got linux on their PS3 box?  ... which are they using? and how is the performance?

Currently installing Xubuntu to mine, wanna see if I can get a decent Amiga emulation thing going on it...

YDL6.1 myself

see video in this post onwards for performance of eUAE:

i tried Ubuntu originally, and it wasnt as well-prepared for PS3 usage as YDL is. maybe that has changed now, i dont know.

apparently YDL in the past was the only one that had PS3 compatibility, but now its all in included in the linux core... or something.

- btw Im using Xubuntu at the moment, so far it seems kinda nippy... xubuntu being the least memory intensive from the ubuntu series (ubuntu > kubuntu > xubuntu).
Unsure on how it compares to YDL at the moment, only tried BTSS which works well through Scummvm.

yet to see how E-UAE runs... may record a quick vid like you did ;-)
looks like youve got a great setup with all your miggy stuff running in YDL btw HH

Who are these two - Horrace and the Spider????

They look dodgy to me. Probably showing you how to nuke your PS3.  >:(  :D

Anyway, let's enjoy our Linux and show the PS3 slim owners what they're missing!

Its no joke. Bad times!

From tomorrow PS3 UAE will be no-more ...

You don't have to update but if  you want to be able to still use "online games network and the ability to playback certain games or Blu-ray DVDs that require the most up-to-date firmware" then your screwed.

I think I'd be pissed if I had a phat ps3!

for me, the only saving grace is that Apple support the wireless Blutooth PS3 pads natively, so i will probably only use my macbook for UAE now.
