Title: SWOS RISS
Post by: zicozico on August 22, 2007, 04:57:40 PM
hi is it possible for a ram state file of swos with the new 2006/2007 updated data?

where is this data and i'd look into it

Career mode crashes with the SWOS savestat uploaded here (at selecting your team).
Looks like the savestate is not 100% correct.
Can someone correct the SWOS 96/97 savestate?
I'd really like to play SWOS career mode again!!

By the way SWOS 05/06 update would be here:
http://www.eibmoz.dk/swos0506/index.php

Turn CPU Cycle Exact to "ON". That should correct the problem, then save the config for that state.

HI
Thanks for the answer.

Sorry to bother you again but there's no CPU cycle exact to "on" in version 0.63.
Only blitter cycle exact (which was "on") and a CPU setting "REAL", which I tried.

Unfortunately no luck yet  :-(

i will look into it next week when i have the chance.

i did test this when i made the state.... any chance the cycle-exact setting got broke?

maybe try immediate blitters instead?

Immediate blits seems to do the trick!
Brilliant!!

well we have the answer anyway... it needs immediate blitters.

i had thought before they got swapped by accident... when i was testing Plutos, (which needs it) but it turned out i was confused about which one winuae needed. (as i recall, winuae-kaillera breaks with either imm. blitters or cycle exact)

maybe they were wrong originally and got fixed (i beleive they were added becasue i requested it for SWOS) - this might explain why the SWOS config is set up wrong... becasue i -would- have tested that.

tut tut, how we forget, i added Cycle exact, and your reply "Thanks FOL, I hate you sometimes, I sat up all night playing SWOS cause you added Cycle exact". It was deffo cycle exact that fixed it, and they have definately not swapped by mistake, cycle exact slows emu more than blitter.

exactly my point!

it seems Immediate Blits fixes the problem NOT cycle exact. (according to zicozico )

my point is that when they were added in the beta, they were perhaps wrong. (i remember some fiddling being done with them, like ensuring only one was ever switched on at a time - it was likely then, that it was sorted) -

perhaps this is why it was later assumed (when making the state) that Cycle Exact was what was needed, when in fact Imm.Blits were needed.

whatever the case, one of them works, and when i tried Plutos recently, i got it working with the same setting as WinUAE, so things are definately right now ;)

p.s. skate:  it doesnt warrant a new state. why dont YOU update the config, test it and re-upload it for a change?! :P

they would likely require a new RISS made, which allows files to be transferred to/from ADF.

i'll look into it

tried to use an adf loading version of swos but it freezes when i goto load from a ADF disk on tactics screen

shame cos the tactics ive got made all the players values rise loads

if you post your tactic file, i'll see if i can "inject" it into the current RISS for a less permanent solution.

I'm new to this so this maybe a simple problem? I can use adf games no worries but swos is my 1st save state. I load save state and it freezes and psp turns off. I try to load the config file and it freezes and psp turns off again?! Please help this poor simpleton!  ;D

Im guessing you dont have KickROM 3.0.
Make sure you have both kickrom 1.3 and kickrom 3.0, naming then kick13 and kick30. Place them in the KICKS folder.

It should show an error message, but with 1.50 eboot, it crashes instead.

HDF is fine for extracting data from, it just cant be used direct with PSPUAE.

any update i do will be primarirly in the graphics dept. with data taken from elsewhere.

at most i might update Sheffield Wednsday, England and Chelsea, but that would be the lot... i haent time to get into data editting again.

how about manchester united as well?! I've started career mode now anyway, think I can live without updates. While I'm here I was wondering if theres a way to save highlights? Using a drive during savestate gameplay doesnt really work does it? I couldnt get it to work anyway.
Title: Re: SWOS State Problems
Post by: Hungry Horace on November 03, 2007, 05:57:03 PM
there is no "save" adf included with the SWOS RISS, but it should be easy to create one. all "in-game" saving would go onto that. Easy to creat one in WINuae however (create formatted adf)  - and then you just use it like any other ADF by sticking it into the emulated DF0:

p.s.  there's not a hope-in-hell of >me< updating man united!! i hate them that much!

Title: Re: SWOS RISS

well I'm a man utd fan so it was worth a try!  ::) yeah I have a saves adf already done coz I play a few other games using adf. when i go to save it goes to the amiga dos screen saying replace volume 1 in df0 in a system request box at the top but on main screen it says operation succesful? But I cant get off this screen and the save sdoesnt seem to work?

sorry i havent done this yet, i've had a few big things in RL distracting me, and the little reamaing "amiga time" i've had, has largely concerned sorting my actual hardware (which once finished, should put an end to needing to do anything to it ever again!)

rest assured, i've made a start on it though, but the graphics edits (to make them as generic as i would like) are not a fast process!!

when its all done, there will likely be two new SWOS states, one for 9697 and one for 0607/generic-pspuae updates.... i hope you will enjoy them

this update is coming on quite nicely

The graphics (difficult bits anyway) are almost done.

for tem updates i will be using data from here....

http://synchronated.110mb.com

i am currently in discussions with the guy who does those updates, and hope we can work on a regular single update between us.

@Jeff - i dont know about your career file. I guess if its a 9697 .car file, stored on ADF it -should- transfer fine.

Sort of off topic but on the xbox 360 (xbox live) theyve just released (and also updated) this rather exclellent game!

I cant wait to play this classic online when I get home!

The new Amiga Online Edition of Sensible World of Soccer, including updated teams and graphics is now available in the downloads section.

http://pspuae.condor.serverpro3.com/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item265

And no, it wont be available to use on UAE4ALL as the updates are too large to fit on the original disks.

Let me know if there are any problems / bugs. I will be likely revising this when Syncronated's next data update is released. The Career mode has been tested for game start, but not for seaon end, although i believe the team updates are already tested to ensure this works.

Sorry i didnt do this sooner, but i've only just compiled the winuae-kaillera version for the Amiga Online site for which it is mainly intended!

Post by: snowbound on July 20, 2008, 03:47:28 PM
Having a hell of a time getting this to run. I am running firmware 4.01 m33-2 on a PSP slim with latest version of pspuae. All kicks are in the right place and I am using the swos save state downloaded from this site. The pre-configured config file that comes with the save state doesn't help. I have tried every combination of configuration to no avail. All I get is "Your Kickstart requires a 68020 CPU". I have even manually set the CPU to 68020, doesn't help. Has anyone managed to get this to work on the firmware and pspuae I have installed? Any help appreciated.

Title: Trying to run SWOS9697 RISS on 0.71
Post by: ElDiablo365 on September 23, 2009, 05:06:33 AM
Hi, just discovered this site and it is awesome!

I'm having a little trouble trying to get the RISS of SWOS9697 to run on my psp though.

I put the pspuae folders into game150 folder and then put the kick13 rom in the kicks folder.  Finally I put the RISS into the states folder.

The emulator starts no problem but when I try to load the state it just goes to a black screen and ultimately restarts my psp.

It's a psp phat running 5.00m33-6

Am I missing an obvious step here?  I don't have an adf files, just the RISS in the states folder.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Going to answer my own question here.

I put kickstart 31 on the psp as well and had the same story (game didn't load).  Kickstart 30 looks to have solved my problem though, the game loaded up fine.

The game hangs every time I try to start the career mode after picking a team - any suggestions on why this might be or how to solve it?

thread merged with 'SWOS RISS' thread in the RISS Support/Help forum

i'm an sure your answer is in the above thread. It's either blitter cycle exact or  immediate blits you need to make the career mode work.

all RISS require kickstart 3.0 and not kickstart 3.1 .... this is explained in the RISS Guide / FAQ which you can find on the front page :)

good luck

edit: also, 0.72 is the latest version of PSPUAE, although you will require the NOT fame/c version to run the swos RISS

Switched to 0.72, switched immediate blits, career mode works!    :D

Train journeys will never be the same with good ol SWOS career mode back!    ;D

On a separate note, my God I don't remember this game being so fast.    :o   Hmm, might need to fiddle with the framerate to even the playing field.    :P

Thanks a million for the help Horace, it was getting late yesterday while I was looking at solving the issue and things had stopped making sense.
Title: Re: SWOS RISS
Post by: Hungry Horace on September 24, 2009, 04:55:35 AM
glad its all working for you.  ;D

the config for the RISS is probably for an older (slower) version and has more skip than needed.

however, i found SWOS to be painfully slower than it's genuine Amiga speed if the sound is switched on, so i turned it off on the RISS, to give smoother (less skip) and faster (like it should be!) gameplay.

you can, of course, tweek it for personal preference :)

there is also a version of SWOS uploaded with updated teams and graphics ... the SWOS "Amiga Online" version, if you are interested.

Yep, I found the updated version of SWOS , absolutely trojan work by whoever updated all those teams!

I'm finding that I have to bring the frameskip back from 34 to compete but at the same time I want it to match as closely as possible the authentic Amiga experience that I remember (can't make things too easy).

Thanks so much for everyone who has worked on this project, you've made a gamer very happy.    :D

I'm new here (just registered) and I come to you, Hungry Horace, with a humble request: I've heard that Sychronated has stopped updating SWOS and that their last update was the 13/14 one. Would it be possible to make a RISS of this version? Thank you for your attention.

Hello there! Thank you very much for the update, master Hungry Horace, for I was really looking forward to it, but there's a little issue: the career mode only works with some leagues (England and Germany, for example) and not at all with others (Spain, Italy and Brazil, for instance). I have tested it on 0.72 with your suggested settings and with the settings I use with the other versions (original and 07/08), but the results were the same: I choose the league, pick out a team and... nothingness. Do you have any idea of what could be wrong?
Title: Re: SWOS RISS

Sorry, I can't be sure. It must be something to do with the teams pack from Syncronated if the other versions work ok.

I wonder if he changed he number of teams in the league or something, and it doesn't like it....

Hello there! Actually, Hungry Horace, they changed the number of teams of a number of leagues; I guess that's why they changed the main files in the amiga and pc formats. Is there a way to make a RISS based on this modified version?

The Riss *is* using that modified version? I simply inserted all of the files from the Syncronated download into the game.

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone can help? I've been playing the RISS version of swos 2013-14 (and loving it!) but when it gets to the end of a career season it goes to a black screen instead of continuing on. I tried it with a 2nd division scottish team first and this happened and then with an english premiership team - this was slightly different as it showed the league tables for the other english divisions and then went to a black screen. Any advice? I don't have any disks in the drive.

cheers,

r

EDIT So I gave up on trying to get the career mode to work properly and tried the SWOS96-97 RISS on 7.2. That didn't work either, and nor did a variety of adf files. However, the SWOS online version RISS for 6.3 seems to work with the career mode etc. The only thing is that it is quite a bit slower than the 2013-14 version - is that just the way it is or does anyone have the optimum settings for it they could share?

cheers,

r

Hello there! Since the 13-14 update didn't work as well as expected, I tried to rediscover the original 96-97, but I soon realized that without being able to edit tactics, the experience is just not complete; I've tried to format disks to save the tactics, but nothing works... it always ends up crashing. I ask you, lords of all things SWOS: is there a way to create a riss with a save disk, like the online version? Thank you for your time. :)

hi,

i've downloaded the RISS for SWOS 96/97 and it's loading, but it isn't detecting the fire buttons

i've checked the controller set up under the psp section within pspuae and it says that X or O is the fire button for joystick 0 but it's still just cycling through the credits.

Cheers

Surely Joystick 1 is what you need? Joystick 0 is probably the mouse port.

It's been a long time since i've used PSPUAE, but i assume this is correct, in line with the other emulators
