I think that PSPUAE is due for an update that would work with the new 3.71M33 Homebrew E-Boot since it seems like DA isn't going to make a 1.50 plugin for the fat afterall, even though he said that he would "I think that he has sold us out on that one"
Anyone else agree that we need a new port for the new 3xx Custom Firmware Protocol Kernel's so that we can upgrade to the latest CF without worrying about our favorate emulators not working?
-
according to FOL PSPUAE already works on the new firmwares for Slim

Have you got a slim?
Have you tried the 1.00 Eboot in kernel 3.71?
It works fine for me, I always use the firmware kernel, never 1.50 and it all works fine. So it should work for the slim. I am going to look into updating it for the new kernel, but I have had alot of PC problems lately, so im trying to get my PC sorted.

it ready for Fat PSPs this
1.50 Addon for 3.71 M33 (PSP Fat Only) > http://www.psp-hacks.com/2007/09/30/150-addon-for-371-m33-psp-fat-only/
we wait for and Slim in a few days

My PSP is not fat! It's just big boned that's all... ;D

On a side note regarding 3.71 Custom Firmware. If you end up in a situation like me and cant install 3.71 M33 on your PSP cause the official updater says your PSP is screwed.
You will need to use the new padora creator, that lets you pandora straight to 3.71 M33. Spent 4 hours trying to get this to install on my son's PSP and it kept bricking, :(.
Hope this helps people who cant update.

Right, been playing round with compiling for 3.71 slim, i need some testers. Please PM me, so i can get it tested.
-
i have 1 user in my forum whit slim..
FOL if you can send me the right PSPUAE for this firmware.

I have both slim and phat . Just send me a pm if you need help with tests or anything.
0.63 works fine on the slim, but it would be great to implement the extra memory in the emulator:)

You would really want the extra memory? why, we removed the code as it was pointless. Spose we could readd the code and define for 3.x FW. First I want a working 3.X FW version.
Ill PM test Eboot now.

Ok! the Slim user say run & working good,
his noob and young man and dont know what is Amiga!!
::) :o :o

Thanks, but it really need it tested as i found it crashed when selecting adf's, states and configs. That could just be cause im using it on a phat PSP.

yes,ok.
hope soon has news for him.

i'm using phat psp with firmware 3.71 m33 (currently release2 with v2 1.50 kernel addon). I tried running the kernel 1.00 eboot in game371 folder before AND after 1.50 kernel addon (with both m33 releases) - it seemed to work fine :) I did this cos i thought it'd be a good test to see if it works on the slim.
Couldn't get music.prx (version50) to work with pspuae (0.63be) though... :-\
So is pspuae confirmed to work on the slim - i'm confused ??? is it not stable or something?
-
You can close this now, it was just incase that the 1.50 plugin wasn't going to get released. ;D

No, I want to get a working 3.71 kernel version. I know the old version already works, but as roberfisk pointed out, slim has more memory, and can use the extra mem values.
1.50 Kernel is a thing of the past, we would have to port to 3.71 sometime, so why not get it out of the way now.
Still waiting for a reply on the test eboot. No one has replied to me, :(.

Ok, since we are now getting an new 3.71 E-Boot, what will the new features be accept from the obvious extra memory?
Heres a few features that I would like to see.
Speed: "Games like Zool, in both R.I.S.S. or ADF formats, tend to go too Slow during the loading parts, but the charitor runs too Fast during Normal Speed Gameplay, and does double vision, even when I don't get the icon, so I can't see what I'm doing."
Sound: The sound in this emulator is really bad and needs a hell of a lot of work on, since it sounds poppy in every game I've tried in the latest build so far.
Handling: Diaginals don't seem to work well on the D-Pad yet, and I like using D-Pad for Joystick, and the Analouge Stick for the mouse.
-
The diagonals has nothing to do with PSPUAE, its down to the bad way Sony designed the dpad.
As for the speed problems your mentioning, have you tried playing with the FS (frameskip) function to see if you can get any better results? Also, does it matter what speed the loading runs at?

Well, the other question is, is it running at 333MHz CPU speed. See this is bugging me now, I can see me buying a slim just to sort this out, cause im not getting no feedback on my test release and very annoying.
Skate is correct, I cant do diaganals on my UK release PSP. As for the other problems you have mentioned, its getting annoying now, as we have been over this time and time again. Try older version of PSPUAE and then you will see that it has been getting better and better.

You mean US PSP after you've converted to 3.71 with 1.50 Homebrew aka 3.71M33, which is run by US E-Boot's, by the way. ;D
Of course it doesn't run at the top 333 CPU speed yet because of all the gameplay moving speed problems and the popping sound, and of course the theme music going at different speeds whilst it is loading.
This is based on 0.63 Final though and not the 0.64 Beta which I think that you're refering to, which I can't see for public download, so I can't help you out for Phat Capability for that, sorry.
If you really need the help, why don't you open an hidden Public Beta's forum for the signed up members only, along with seperate bug reports forums for both the Phat & Slim PSP's, so that users for Phat or Slim PSP's could report bugs for fixing, starting from the next beta version?

Ermmm, now im lost. I definately mean UK as in United Kingdom as I doubt shops would get away with selling US version PSP on Europe release date.
You also misunderstood, currently PSPUAE clocks the PSP CPU to 333MHz, but with 3.71 the kernel is different and you have to set CPU to 333Mhz differnetly. What I ment is, is it running at 333Mhz, as the 3.71 test is using the old way to set speed.
I done some testing last night, and the slim crashes the same as phat, so that tells me i can test it on my phat workout bugs then do another test beta, when its ready. I need to sort memory allocation out, as it boots and works fine, but runs out of mem and crashes when loading adf's or states.
As for a hidden public forum, this is something that would need to be discussed with site staff, but I think it will cause more problems than good.

I wonder with the extra memory in a 3XX version if it would be possible to add basic AGA support too to bring the emulator forwards sort of like the Win version did by adding CD32 support when we thought that it would never come?
But of course if we get the CD32 version of AGA support too as well as A1200 AGA, we would also need ISO support added because of the PSP not being able to fit 5" CD's in it's system.

AGA is on the sideburner for now. It has been discussed many times and i have also tried adding AGA, without success, there is no reason for it not working.
Speed is paramount, as for iso's, once HD support happens, you will be able to mount them as a folder, giving them the device name CD0:

So I'll take it that it's not possible just to port in the AGA part of the latest version of the UAE core, which works perfectly on the PC then?
-
since uae on PC is largely coded in x86 ASM. no.
there is support for aga in e-uae (on which pspuae is based) but the e-uae sources are very buggy, and there has been no success in getting AGA to work on pspuae.
-
It's great that you just said that, since E-UAE have just released some new WIP Source Files, which if used in the next version would provide various sound bugfixes and it's based on WinUAE 1.3.x which is the version with CD32 added, so the changes may help AGA to get running properly on PSPUAE, as well as provideing good quality sound, fingers crossed.

...
If by 'just' you mean 6 months ago then yes, they have 'just' released it...
-
and wip4 is also heavily bugged - this is why we still do not have HD support
2007-03-27 E-UAE-0.8.29-WIP4 released - pushing on 7 months old now, lol
i think even with the fixes, the PSP will not have the power for run decent-speed AGA anyway, (stuggles enough with ECS) - so i wouldnt be expecting that to -ever- happen if i were you Evolution.
also, regarding the sound, it is more likely an older-sound code will solve the problems than any new sound-code. (this is what FOL will attempting to do)

Indeed thats the old source, the bug fix release still hasnt been released. Plus I have no PC at the moment, so i could'nt do anything even if i wanted to.
Also, it will take me alot longer to do stuff, that might take the other coders minutes, hours. So please this talk of AGA, its going round in circles. I like you want AGA support, and spent awhile messing with code to get it running. I dont know why it wouldnt run, as the code seemed fine.
-
So that brings back up the fact that no other CPU's work exept from 68000, which could be the reason for the ongoing AGA Chipset problem.
You should try testing AGA on the slower but only working CPU "68000" if thats at all possible before reporting that even basic AGA support doesn't work.

HUH????
All cpu's work fine. So you have lost me completely.
-
fol is right, all cpus work.
otherwise some of the RISS wouldnt exist. (68020 is required for some of them)
its just that anything above 68000 wasnt liked by whatever you were trying to run on an a500+ mode. that's the software's fault, not the emulator's.

hi everyone what a great emulator many thanks for making it.
i just like to say at first i couldnt get it working on my 3.52 M33 firm.

As I have always told people, its even in all the guides, use V1.00 eboot on Custom Firmware, :). Thanks for the comfirmation post, :).
