I recently installed Chilly Willy's version of Doom on my psp slim, and i was amazed to see it had the option for fullscreen interlaced tvout via component cables. I do not have an HD tv with progressive out so besides xmb, umd movies and photos n stuff i can't run any games OR homebrew via tvout. Until i came across this that is. Not only does it work flawlessly fullscreen interlaced BUT it also has the option to go to like 720*480 resolution (or is it 720*400?)... amazing!!! :o
I would love to see pspuae have this option for tvout too. Didn't the original amiga 500 have two different display modes one standard and an interlaced screen for some games eg: battlemechs.
I have tried to find information regarding this issue - cos isn't that Dark-AleX 'hello world' fullscreen tvout thingy just some sort of function call that would be relatively simple to implement into the latest pspuae. I know little about programming esp on psp. Is there any dev sites or anything like that that people could point me towards to understand and MAYBE (big maybe lol) try to implement this to pspuae?? I can only try ;D
Does pspuae work fine for tvout via progressive scan but shrunk (black strips around the sides)?
mmmmm.... ;D *cleanoff dreams of playing alien breed on his tv* ;D ....mmmmmm

Chilly Willy, is a nice guy. Emailed him the other day, and he replied really quick. All I will say at the moment is, Ill add it to todo list. Im quessing you got my PM, which is explains what im doing atm.
-
Yeah, got the PM thanks.
I tried my tvout via component PROGRESSIVE output the other day on a friends tv. Well it definately works fine but with the black strips around the edge like i thought. I guess i need to get a tv that has decent scaling (zoom) options and then i'm set :-)

Hello, everyone. I will be making sure the next version has full TV support. That should really help certain games, especially ones like Faery Tale Adventure where part of the screen was low-res, and part hi-res.

Thanks, chilly. This is make alot of people happy.

will hi-res mode continue to skip pixels, or do you think a solution could be worked out to draw all the pixels, but use the filter(s) to make it fit the screen? (on both PSP or external screen)
oh and hi Willy, great to have you here :)

TV out obviously doesn't need to it scaled down, unless you're doing SUPER Hi-Res (1280). It will take a few tests to determine what is the best way to handle the LCD, but it might be easier to just render as hi-res and scale down with the GPU for the LCD. Conversely, for TV out and low-res, it's probably easier to render low-res and then use the GPU to scale it up.

Sounds like a plan, chilly im on yahoo now or site chat, if you have time.
