Title: PSPUAE 0.70 RELEASED
Post by: FOL on February 23, 2008, 10:52:44 PM
We have released a new version of PSPUAE (Amiga Emulator for PSP), changes / improvements are listed below.

V0.70 - FOL update

* Added alot of Rics FAMEC code and optimisations. (Gave some speed increase)
* Altered Hsync handler. (Removes slow down when sprites on screen, with CPU = MAX)
* Altered CPU CYCLE UNIT to 256 (Gave the most speed increase)
* Altered CHIPSET settings (To fall inline with CPU CYCLE UNIT change, its now a much more finer setting than in previous versions. Giving better results)
* Added Rics FAMEC Sound code (Still clicks, we know what the problem is, but i need help to solve it)
* Added Interpolation 4CH Sound under sound menu (This can improve sound slighty)
* Altered HEAP SIZE for available memory to PSPUAE (This solves all memory problems)
* Added Rics FAMEC FrameSkip Algorithm (This gives a finer smoother Auto FrameSkip)

Remember Read the README`s, I have readded the "options and what they are" section.

You can download it from our DOWNLOADS (http://pspuae.condor.serverpro3.com/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item266) section

Downloading now. Tha
nks in adance for this guys! ;D

edit: Just had a quick test and the speed difference is very pleasing! :)

One problem I seem to be getting though is if I load one adf game that plays fine... but then if I come back to the options screen and load up a different adf, then reset the the amiga, when I go back to the game the screen position is now way off to the right hand side of the psp and i Don't seem to be able to move it back to the centre of the screen (not without rebooting pspuae)? I asume its related but the additional option of 'screen lock' appears in the PSP Display menu only once the screen has already moved off centre? ...maybe I'm just losing the plot though? lol

I'm loving the animated eboot with the cool at3 music!... top stuff! :)

Right back to testing my games. :)

First of all: thanks!! :)

But: did anyone got giana sisters to work? it was working without modifications in configuration on 0.63. But on 0.7 it freezes where you choose betweeen one or two players.

But Silkworm is very good playable now, great!

All I can sugguest is check your configs, makesure you aint got a config overriding default settings. Other than that, you will have to alter settings, i.e. if DriveSpeed = Turbo, change it to Normal.

Both run fine, with auto frameskip and setting CPU speed to chipset (you need to find the value that suits you, i.e. 45% or 60% etc etc). I will have a look at what i set em to later.

EDIT:- Benefactor, Frameskip = Auto and Chipset = 65%, works nice. Superfrog, Frameskip = Auto and Chipset = 75%, works nice.

I am having a fresh install of 0.70.
And after not working (like in 0.63)  I've tried all different kind of setting still no luck with giana sister. any idea if it might have something to do with the new code, FOL?

That is an odd 1 indeed, just tested you are correct. Its like its not accepting the left and right mouse button.

I cant see my code changes effecting only 1 game, lets be fair, i have tested countless all worked fine. I use alot of stuff with mouse input and all working fine.

uh, i didn't mean to be unfair :)
I am glad we have such great amiga emulation!

regarding giana sisters: it is frozen, usually the screen scrolls from left to right and back (you can check with pspuae 0.63).

Think i mis-understood your reply, and have been hunting down a bug (which has nothing to do with me).
I thought you ment it worked in 063, which is doesnt, it crashes at the TIME WARP screen, and in 0.70 it gets to main logo.

Odd high pitched notes, instead of audio its outputing high pitched notes on 1 channel. It only happens in a few games, also want to look at adding some type of switch between, new and old FrameSkip, as some things run better with old frameskip but run worse with new, :).

Well, i tried 3 versions of it, and it wouldnt work for me, kept crashing on TIME WARP screen. I even reverted 0.70 src back to 0.63 and that didnt work either, :(.

EDIT:- I have tried a fresh compile of 0.63 source and the 0.63 download from pspuae.com and both crash on TIME WARP screen, as I said, in 0.70 it gets to title screen then doesnt scroll. Ive even formatted my MS, still the same.

What Firmware and kernel are you using?

Odd it isnt working here and im using same eboot, but firmware is diff, but thats not the issue. I dont know what the problem is then, if the download here doesnt work and a compile from 0.63 source dont work.
Can you email me the adf and eboot your using, please

Mm, I miss the old eboot icons and music. :/

Turrican 3 is still oddly choppy. Sound's a bit better, though still strange. Like someone else might have mentioned, looking through the UAE4ALL source could help here.

I'm getting memory errors after loading a second ADF though, for some reason. o_O Anyone else on 3.52 M33-4 having this problem?

More info would be nice,

memory errors, i have'nt had 1, even when loading 11mb states, over and over. If your setting memto maxium, you will need to turn off Background menu pic.

Got it, your EBOOT is different, where did you download it from, cause its different from source and release eboot. Your adf now gets to title screen, then sits there, cant do anything, but on your eboot it works.

3 of us worked on 0.63 source, and as thats the source i based 0.70 on, i dont have a clue where the problem could lie. Its strange your eboot is not the same as release eboot. My guess is the source was modified before upload to server, that is the only thing that can explain it not working with a fresh compile. Also seems odd thats its only 1 game broken.

Ah, thanks... I'll try that out and see if it stops.

And more info about what, exactly? If you mean about T3, the frameskip wildly varies... an improvement over 0.63, where it was a constant 8.
And with the sound, less crackling and such, as in 0.63.

It is indeed, what i will do is finish the work im doing on sound (fixed sound bug), just trying some stuff on sound code.

Then ill check the 062 source against the 063 source, and see if i can find out exactly what was changed. I know 063, had the optimized blitter code.

Maybe its that causing problem, but I wont know til I have a look.
Ill also check to if i have a backup of the original 0.63 source, thin I have it on a backup dvd.

Thanks FOL, I was going to post on that Sound Bug :) In Terry's Big Adventure it's pretty annoying ;)

By the way, I have some problems with the new Frameskip logic... Terry's Big Adventure worked great in 0.63 with Chipset 100%, with autoFS skipping only 1-2 frames. Now in 0.70 it's on 30-40 most of the time!  :o

And by manually setting it to FS 2-3 the game it's uber-slow... Any ideas?

BTW, thanks for the hard work ;D
Title: Re: PSPUAE 0.70 RELEASED

the numbering system for frameskip is now totally different. 30-40 would be the same as about 1-3 on old frameskip.

the number is now the number of frames dropped per second. e.g. 25fs is 25 frames (of 50) dropped every second.... the same as old FS 1.

this allows for more more detail in frameskip numbers as we approach fullspeed. (25 values between 0-25 instead of 0-1 on old fs logic)

Horace is right, I should have mentioned this in more detail. It was just a mad rush come Saturday night, :).

Ric's Frameskip logic works exactly as Horace has stated. It deals in Frames Per Second, and gives a much finer adjustment.

i think i'll do a newspost about this when i get home, and explain the conversion numbering, to give people a gauge as to what numbers to expect.

Goldrunner is also without any glitches.

I wont be releasing 0.70 RISS versions though, becuase of the config saving bug.

This helps me, as it means there is nothing wrong with the code relating to the gfx side of things. I suspect, its a disk code problem. I will investigate further, onec I get chance.

as i said, it doesnt happen on the RISS version. You have the boot disk - why not just use it? this shouldnt be an issue to you anymore.

it was a joke. The floppy drives are needed to install the RISS anyway.

OK, I have managed to find a perfect backup of 063 source, which works fine with giana sisters. So i will start from scratch with this as a base, and include the fixes for the bugs i have fixed. Proberly will take a few days, to re-add the changes I made.

Thats strange, I defintely downloaded it either from the download section here or from qj.net.

OK, I have managed to find a perfect backup of 063 source, which works fine with giana sisters. So i will start from scratch with this as a base, and include the fixes for the bugs i have fixed. Proberly will take a few days, to re-add the changes I made.

yay, great to hear that and once again: thanks for pspuae :)

Real nice work.  The Populous screen on the XMB menu is nice too with the lil animated icon, though I do kinda miss the Project X music.  No big deal though.  Am glad to have donated and look forward to more improvements in the future.  :)

Nice suprise. I was playing too much TWG to notice the update. ;D That Wrestling Game is so addictive you know like PSPUAE although it's a text based game!!!!  ;)

I see that SWOS is still having the Chipmunks and Slow Mo problems on Goal Scoring Superstar Hero on the RISS file, the chanting and menu music during the game are perfect though!!!!

Odd it isnt working here and im using same eboot, but firmware is diff, but thats not the issue. I dont know what the problem is then, if the download here doesnt work and a compile from 0.63 source dont work.
Can you email me the adf and eboot your using, please

mail is on its way. thanks for the effort!

Right, it seems the cycle unit alterations, is causing giana sisters not to work, but the odd thing is, horace make a WHDLoad RISS, which works fine. This will have to be away round it until I workout away to fix it (if it can be fixed).

Why it didnt work when I removed all my changes, i dont know.

Great work on the update guys.  I've only just found the time to download and give the latest release a try.  I will let you know what I think :)

DC has already posted news of this new release on CA so hopefully that will attract a few more to trying out this great emulator.  Keep up the great work and I hope you continue to develop it until it is finally perfect.

BTW, FOL, I was wondering why i hadn't seen you about for so long on CA, and now I know.  Being productive! ;)

Hi all,

Thank you FOL for your amazing work.

I have two noob questions (I think): if I want to configure at best the setting for a game, what mean changin the percentage of Chipset? How I do? What are other change I can make to run a game better?

And, why everytime i download a configuration from this site and I run it, pspuae crash?

P.S. Sorry for the awful english, i'm Italian.

Thank You Very Much.

Well the amount of chipset depends on game, you will have to change from 30% up to 100% to see what makes the game run as best it can. Normally around 50% is best.

There are no configuration files you can download. So im not sure what you mean by this. The only configs are the 1's that come with the savestates.

Yeah, where I can change the percentage?

Yes, I mean savestates: I download it and when I select It, the PSPUAE crash. I don't understand why...

Thank for the attention.

Ok, do you mean your PSP crashes or PSPUAE resets (amiga guru (flashing red box))?

:). I was guessing it was PSPUAE reseting, which is caused by some states needing a reload, straight after loading them.
