Hi Guys!!
PSPUAE looks awesome for what i can see of it that is, On my PSP I've got the official Firmware of 2.82, I get the intro come up(Speedball 1/2) in the left top etc, but when i try to load it, my PSP displays the PSP screen as in the screen shot on the installation guide but then the screen goes blank and I have to reboot my PSP, please please why does it not work, is it just the firmware??? and if so can you go through making it work(goto firmware 3.03OE) so i can play my PSP games.

Well you can't play any homebreew/emulators on the offical sony firmware so your going to need to change that.
If you own the original grand theft auto game on the psp then its pretty easy by using the v3.03 downgrader:
# This downgrader is for v3.03 firmware only. But if you have v2.81 - v3.02, no problem - you can just upgrade to v3.03 to use the downgrader.
# You need a copy of the unpatched GTA:Liberty City Stories UMD. No ISOs, no patched UMDs, not Vice City Stories. See here for some info on how to check if your version is patched. The most reliable way : the unpatched disks have the v2.0 firmware update on them.
# This downgrader is intended to enable homebrew. Homebrew is NOT the same as piracy. Don't be a thieving loser - buy the games you play.
# The downgrader will work on all current PSP hardware (TA-079 - TA-086). Patching of TA-082+ is automatic in the downgrader.
Get that here: http://www.noobz.eu/joomla/news/v3.03-downgrader.html
If you haven't got that GTA game then you'll need a Pandora Jigkick + Magic Memory Card. Get that info here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/552549
Once your on a custom firmware (or even 1.5) then you'll easily be able to play PSPUAE and all the other homebrew goodness. ;D

Im guessing he is using e-loader as he has the splash pic load then crash. He proberly doesnt have the correct Kickstart ROM, as this is the most common cause of crashing psp after splash screen. I say this, cause if its OFW, then it will always return a can not load app, its corrupt message.
Baboon is correct though, with regards to getting Custom Firmware. If you can get a pandora battery, I could talk you through the rest.

Hello .
Whit any official firmware you can not play anything homebrew - emulators 1.50 kernel.
The way is the custom firmware and (Pandora) it the easier way for you,
after to downgrade make 3.52M33 firmware the best compatible firmware for 1.50 kernel and suport all emulators

Nah 3.90 M33-3 is the latest and most compatible firmware - I'd strongly advise go with that! ...Everything works fantastic with the 1.50 Kernel addon, plus you have all the benefits from the latest official firmware (including updated features and the best compatibility within the built in sony playstation 1 emulator etc).
Also piggybank1974 (as my first post mentioned) if you do own grand theft auto on the psp then its a whole lot easier and cheaper seeing as your already on 2.82 firmware then buying a second battery etc for pandora and setting it all up. ...if you havent got GTA but own the original Lumines UMD game then theres another similar easy way to get you on to the magic custom firmware: http://www.noobz.eu/joomla/news/downgrader-for-psp-v3.50-firmware.html

"out of the box" anemos remains correct about 3.52 firmware being most compatible *for homebrew*... since the 1.50 support is within the firmware itself.
personally, i havent seen any reason to upgrade beyond 3.03 OE yet, although i am 3.52 M33 myself, i sometimes wonder why i bothered upgrading.
-
Most emulators no longer even require the 1.50 kenel as all the devs seem to be using the 3xx user mode anyway.

Well if piggybank1974 is going to the trouble of updating to custom firmware then simply adding the 1.50 add on to 3.90m33 is really no biggie. lol ...if he wants the most update firmware that can do absolutely everything then again I'd have to say 3.90m33 is the way to go.

as for what anybody wants / prefers / requires is a matter of personal choice. i'm not going to tell anybody what firmware they "should" use.
my point was simply that you were quick to disagree with Anemos' statement, which was for all intents and purpose correct.
i am fully aware that most -still developed- emulators now have 1.00/CFW builds thanks, although you cant guarentee it across homebrew as a whole.

OK then - if you want a firmware thats got the most compatibility for emualtion then 3.90m33 is what I'd recommend seeing it can run all known homebrew and emulators in kernel, user mode, and also (if piggybank1984 even requires it?) the most compatibility in Sony's fantastic built in emulator.
I guess the easiest way for him to play PSPUAE (with the least amount of steps) would be to downgrade and just leave it at 1.50 and not even even bother going to a custom firmware?
What ever he decides it will be a good move to get off the official Sony firmware so he can start enjoying the psp's full unlocked functionality. ;D

definately have to agree with the 3.53OE comment... works with all homebrew without the fuss of adding shizzle (as said, its built into the firmware)
If you want to run all the PSP games however, you may like to update to the latest FW ... but it depends on the person you are...
Good ol' HH here is a "homebrew only" kinda guy
I'm a "I like to leave my options open" kinda guy ;-)

Sorry if I'm being thick here but if all you want your psp for is just homebrew then what advantages does 3.52m33 have over the previous 3.02oe, 3.03oe, 3.10oe, 3.30oe, 3.40oe and 3.51m33 (which all of em also work with all homebrew)? ...surely If your going to 3.52m33 for newer features then you've just aswell go to 3.90m33? ???

the all opinions are welcomed and I consider that we are company but..
Stop this. because will perplex itself the guy.
the first objective is it makes downgrade in 1.50.
i I said 3.52 M33, other afterwards it can easily go up in that custom firmware it wants.
-
I only found out about that PS1 game playing function this past week :P Been making the most of it too, converting all my old faves to run on the portable and enjoying the improvements such as massively reduced loading times. Great stuff and another reason why my PSP is by my most favorite games console.
Yep the ps1 emulation is fantastic!
I've been loving using my psx rips too as games can be next to no size now - granturismo2 (500mb to 80mb), gta2 (600odd mb to just 10mb), r-type delta (250mb to 42mb), Strider 2 (240mb to just 19mb), Tekken 3 (300ish mb to 19mb) etc etc. ;D
I've just sent you a pm mate with some great info.

Agreed. ;D
Sorry Piggybank1974 if this has been an information overload. lol

for the record i'm not a 'homebrew only' kind of guy. i also like to keep my option open.
i have a handful of excellent PSP original games, which i enjoy greatly. whether any need firmware as high as 3.52, i doubt very much though.
i think the 'offical' music software was the reason upgraded to 3.52, but i never used it... also for some PS1 emulatior functions that i also never used. Renegade Squadron probably needs it too, but i havent played that since christmas day.

he he, tell em the truth, its FOL's fault. He always talks you into updating, ;).

a psp without homebrew is like having a car with no wheels, there are so many options on psp emulation scene.
Why would you not like the option to play an extra few thousand games on your psp?
PSP, PSX, Amiga, ST, Snes, Nes, 800XL, C64, atari 2600, GBA, GBC, GB, N64, MAME need i keep going?
All the above can be held in your hands with an 8gig pro duo, which is oustanding.
connect to a large FST with a slim and a composite cable, set your slim for progressive scan and your like a pig in poo! :-*
Noobs to custom firmwares installation, need to do a bit of research however and decide what they would like on there handhelds.
I'd like to know what PSP games Horace has played! I was :o to read that bit! lol.
-
Well 3.30+ Custom Firmware is worth it, as the AVC video compression is awesome. Perfect pin sharp convertions of your own DVD collection on the go, :).
-
bet you have been watching movies on PSP, instead of finishing your house! Rumbled! :o

Mmm,some "random" PSP chat?Well I think the statements about CFW is more than right, but as always, this is anti Sony,so...Anyways,I just updated to CFW,I am on 3.90 M33-2 Piano Black Phat 1003 (UK Edition... 8) ) with a 1 Gig and a 4 GB cards... ;) And yea,if You are not talking about warez (like dled games) and You are on CFW everyone knows You actually DO dl games...And I've seen a site which was arse-bitten by Sony...And believe me (and I am not predicting anything... ::) ) if Sony is doing something furiously (not like upgrading their firmwares and listening to OFW users...) then they succeed... ;)
-
I'd like to know what PSP games Horace has played! I was :o to read that bit! lol.
i've played loads - probably most PSP games - (that's the good thing about CFW) - but only own the ones i want to play regularly:
Gottlieb Pinball Classics
Out Run 2006: Coast to Coast
LocoRoco
GTA: LCS
on occasion i like to play
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
GTA: VCS
i dont understand why people make more assumptions about me than anyone else?
"Horace only uses homebrew" "shocked to read that bit" etc etc.

Gottlieb Pinball Classics
Love that game... cool thing is in Japan they've just released the follow up on the PSP with the 'Williams Pinball Classics'. ;D
-
