Title: IPF support and .zip files
Post by: Neo-Rio on June 24, 2008, 05:19:53 AM
Will there be and ipf support in PSP UAE?
I only have ipf disk images, so I can't use PSPUAE as it only supports adf images.
I guess it might be a pain to implement ipf given the fact that it isn't quite so open source. Anyone know of a way to convert ipf to adf?

Also, will there be any zip support? It would be really nice to be able to browse inside a zip file and select a disk image from within the zip file.

Cheers on your great work so far!

IPF cannt be supported because it is closed source. Unless the SPS team decide they want to compile a PSP version of their librarys, or decide to release their sources it simiply cannot happen.

IPF cannot be converted to ADF in 99% of cases. (anything non dos) The whole point of IPF is to retain the copy protection of the original game, creating a perfect image of the original disk. attempting to copy/convert this to ADF just isnt possible, becuase the ADF format (even in extended version) isnt designed to know how to store such precise data, and fails with any track that is dependent on width. On the old x-copy software you can easily see these non standard tracks highlighted when you go to copy something with protection.

ZIPs are already supported. Just use a .zip or .adz file (containing one ADF file) instead of an ADF and insert it into the drive as normal.

hope that answers your questions.

Only limited to one ADF file per zip?
I figure it would be nice to be able to browse inside of a zip and select one of multiple ADFs inside.
That way you could keep all disks from a particular game together in one zip.

Just put them in seperate folders. i.e. Folder name TurricanII, with 2 zips inside called Disk1.zip and disk2.zip.
