Has anyone got the correct settings just to make Menace Run?
I corrupted my savestate and dont know how the hell i got it running, spent last two hours trying to get it running again but without any progress! it really is tempremental.
I know my previous savestate crashed when you died and the game tried to reload to start of game, but i just used to reload savestate back to beginning of game again.
the only menace disks I have are:
Menace (1988)(Psyclapse)[cr Ackerlight][t +3 Ackerlight][a].zip
Menace (1988)(Psyclapse)[cr Ackerlight][t +3 Ackerlight][a2].zip
Menace (1988)(Psyclapse)[cr Ackerlight][t +3 Ackerlight].zip
Has anyone got a good setup, that runs without crashing?
Be delighted to grab your settings, I dont give up easily, but this has me spitting feathers at the moment >:(

I've sorted it out now, running really well. :)
It appeared the only thing that was crashing Menace was the bloomin screen lock on display.
this is the only game that ever been screen display sensitive in all my testing, hence it took me hours to work out, But im pretty determined thankfully!
If anyone wants to try menace out, dont use screen lock or it wont load! unusual - but true!

Odd? What config is that using? 68020 CPU and Full Screen?
-
is it on ECS chipset or something? that causes isues with autozoom no? could be related? maybe?

From the tests i remember, it was kickstart 3.1, ECS and 68020 using Autozoom caused crash.

I was covinced it was a setting change I'd done but didn't know which!
spent hours trying different combinations because I knew that i had it running in the past, but state refused to load despite every settings combination i'd tried, CPU, sound, Blitt, Ram ect.
I'd almost given up because it would power off psp totally upon loading, so it took ages to keep tying new configs. I thought as a last resort, I'd change how it looked.
settings were:
Zoom: No Zoom
aspect ratio: 16:9
autozoom: on < this is what causes lockup on ADF and savestate loading >
screen lock: on
If you want to try it: 0.63 CE settings are (not tried on 0.71 yet)
CPU:68000
CPU speed: chipset
CPU Chipset ratio 61%
immediate blits : on
chipset: OCS
sound: stereo
chipmem: 512kb
Bogomem: 512kb
Kickstart: 1.3
Frameskip: 3
zoom: 25%
Aspect ratio: 25%
Auto Zoom: off
Screen Lock: on
The game will load ok then but you will have an off centered view.
so set to Auto Zoom: on ( this corrects view to centre)
once centred, go back to
Auto zoom: off
then you can play game with centred view, without lockups.
All very strange, I know but Its what i found to be true.
If you dont believe me try loading menace adf with Autozoom: on
I'll bet pound to a penny it powers off your psp! lol :)
-
Not strange at all, this is covered in the readme, :). Auto zoom can cause some odd side effects, generally only on switch on (emulator start or reset).
As for off center, you have to hold left & right triggers and move analogue stick to move screen around. Then turn on screenlock, to lock it into position, ;).
Again covered in the readme, ;).

I never knew that about L+ triggers centering screen with analogue! lol.
never had many problems with it.
but its back in working order:

i seem to recall a similar problem with Blood Money and autozoom.
the game does a 'shrink screen' effect until the height of the screen is only one pixel. Obviously this is done properly with an actual screensize change, and not using some kind of viewport trickery, as this causes the PSP to crash with autozoom on!
i suspect something similar happens with those screen-swipes.

now you've said it like that horace, i seem to recall dropzone doing it when i tried it, know exactly what you mean, I never bothered with dropzone as its bobbins on amiga! datastorm is much better :)
I'll keep my eyes peeled for it now. ::)
