Title: introduce yourself
Post by: Hungry Horace on July 09, 2006, 08:50:48 PM
just though i'd start up a thread for everyone to indroduce themselves, as and when they arrive at the board!

Hungry Horace here is a long term amiga user, still owns several, and is into music and retrogaming (although most just amiga and speccy!) - ofte found skulking on amigagames.com, retrogamingscoreboard, world of spectrum and these days... worryingly.... myspace.. eek!

got a few websites myself:

www.djcresswell.com
www.djcresswell.com/amigaonline

We are Amiga nuts at Heart. The speccy though that was a classic.

Im FOL, Im an Electronics Engineer, theres nothing more I like doing than messing with Amiga`s. Its something to do with the user friendly OS.

I normally hang around TotalEmu-Uk and AmigaGames.com.

Hi i'm brcu,

Like HH i love the Spectrum but the Amiga was classy with games like Kick Off 2, Chaos Engine, and Skidmarks etc !

I can be found on the pspectrum forums and sometimes on the world of spectrum site if they aren't full of their own worthiness.

Hey guys,

I am an amiga fanatic from way back still holding on to a bunch of em.

PSPUAE never really impressed me much because of the way the PSP screen handles the old school graphics but this new version seems to be getting better. HH knows me as the whiny GP2X fanboi on the English Amiga Board. ;)

I hope to see many new revisions of this promising emulator with cool features and maximum compatibility.

A compatibility matrix might not be a bad idea, a bunch of us could test various games and report back on glitches or problems if that helps the developers.

Spectrum?? pfft C=64 FTW! ;)

Hello!

I am an Amiga and C64 musician with an art degree. I work with 8-bits aestethics, chipsounds and bad resolution video.

Greets from Duck-Hunter/Spacebballs!

To be honest PSPUAE is the only emulator I use on the PSP. For everything else I use the gp2x ;)

'ello.

Another old school gamer from the days of the Amiga and Speccy days.

Still have my A500 and finally got round to getting hold of an A1200 a couple of years ago.

Bought my FW 1.50 PSP for the main use of retro gaming specifically for all those Amiga classics like Wings, IK+, Rocket Ranger and Skidmarks.  Hope that I may be of use in some form or another to keep this great project running (I don't have any techie skills though I am a great gamer ;) )

Hi,

I'm a webdesigner from holland. (http://www.luckynumberseven.nl (http://www.luckynumberseven.nl))
I also do stuff like graphic design, as you might have noticed in the cosmetic section.
After using the Apple Macintosh and c64 from the age of six i bought my amiga, and
played it daily. I'm waiting for a 100% release of pspuae so i can carry all those classics
with me on my psp.
My nick is from the bitmap brothers game, because it just rocks in 2player mode.

I'm Chilly Willy... not my real name.  ;)

I cut my teeth on an Atari 400 before finally moving up to the Amiga 500. I used to do a lot of 100% assembly programming on the Amiga in the early to mid 90's. That was fun. The x86 sucks compared to the 68000, so I haven't had as much fun until I started messing with the PSP. The PSP put the fun back in programming for me, so I've been trying to work on a range of things, from utilities to game ports. Anywho, I hope I can help make PSPUAE as good as possible.

Hi all!

Been an Amiga fan since my first "real" computer - an Amiga 2000... had the infamous cd32 but unfortunately for commodore it was too little, to late...

I too had a speccy in the old days -  the difference between that and the Amiga was something magical... We'll never have this kind of advance again... ever.

As a personal note I'm from Portugal and am a 31 years old business manager.

Well, I forgot to introduce myself. Just one more sign of old age I guess  ;D

My name is Chip but my friends (very few of those) call me Chip. I am a 41 year old father of 4 and a game player till the day I die. I play both consoles and PC games and have beta tested several games for the PC and Playstation.

I live in Sunny (ie hot, humid and flat) Florida. I am a night auditor so as you can imagine I don't get allot of sleep. This will be one of the reason you will see me online almost all the time.

I have been a gamer since before video games went commercial. I have owned many different systems from consoles (VCS, Arcadia, Vectrex) to Personal Computers (C64, Amiga, Vic-20, PCs). For a short time I also owned several arcade units (Asteroids & Boot Hill) but my parents made me get rid of them. There was even a time I could name the game and company just by the sound of the game but it has been so long I don't think I could do it anymore.

Of all teh systems the Amiga and C64 had to be my favorites and I have nothing but fond memories of all the life they sucked out of me.  ;)

I moderate at Avault, which I really enjoy, but I also mod at several other sites including the forum for Pacific Storm and Eidos to name a few. It keeps me busy since I really don't get out much.

Hi there. I don't post that much in here, but visit quite frequently, since the PSP and Amiga are my two all-time favourite thingamabobs. Anyways, I'm 31, and was an active (but not very talented)  musician in the amiga scene back in the good old days. Things progressed and later on I made a living as a sound engineer.  I recently re-educated myself to become an electronics engineer instead. After that I got a job as a programmer for a game company.

Nice! I'm having fun with FPGAs these days. Bought myself a dev-board while still in school. Amazing stuff. Ever used one? Some friends and I made ourselves a game console on one as a school project. http://www.kosmodrones.com/diverse/SkidRacer.wmv (http://www.kosmodrones.com/diverse/SkidRacer.wmv) After that I was hooked. :)

Heh, we are considering a sequel and working with various design-ideas etc., so hopefully it will amount to something. We will be aiming considerably higher next time around, though, so if it ever gets made it will probably end up quite cool. :)

Sweet, that video looks alot like Kosmosdrones in the way the vehicles move, :).
Never used 1 of them. In college, got as far as using an EMMA 2 board and programmed it to run a traffic light sequence in binary and hexadecimal.

As for a sequel, it would be hard to beat the first 1, as the first 1 has so much eye candy and is smoooooooth, ;).

Hello, I am a jobless waste of space who rarely makes an appearance anywhere. I enjoy all sorts of things that you wouldn't care about.

If anyone knows of jobs in the Norwich area then drop me line. Maybe you know of something I from home? I doubt it though.

Abhoth, what games company do you work for and what projects are you on? I would love to get a job in that industry/sector, how did you get the job? Do you have a portfolio or was it based on qualifications?

I am half joking. I was in a bad situation a week or so ago, but with my ingenuity I managed to get out of it in the last second before complete devastation struck.
Considering the big picture, I am doing well. Body and mind are sound.

Hey, Skate :) I work on a DS game atm, but by the looks of it I'll get to do some more PSP stuff soon. I got the job partly  because of Kosmodrones and some other projects, partly through mutual acquaintances. Mostly just chance, I believe. They needed someone to code for them, and I happened to be available. If you are aiming at landing a job in the gaming industry I get the impression that having some games or projects that show what you can do is the most important part. "If you were able to make that, we know you can handle this, as well"-kind of thing. But what do I know? Just the general impression I got.

FOL: Yeah, that looking like Kosmodrones is not a coincidence. :) When we had the hardware down and working, we had about two days until deadline. So making a "Kosmo Lite" seemed like the fastest approach to get something playable done on time.

Hi guys.

I'm Soczi, aka Will, aka mrSoczi. I'm a polish ABAP programmer in my mid-twenties. When I was six I started of with my own Atari XL/XE, I had a friend with C64 and I was also into NES. Then I passed on to my Amiga 600 and Amiga 1200 with HD at my uncle's. The Amiga-time was the best. Great games, very good memories. Now I'm all into consoles (also PC games - by default ;) ). I had PS2, sold it, bought Xbox360 and PSP. So I kind of have a wide spectrum of game experience. Now I love to make my PSP an emulation centre. It's like a family photo album - I like to keep good (game)memories in it ;) . Amiga, C64, SNES, Sega Genesis, Neo Geo, Capcom - all in one little PSP.

Hi,
I'm Rudi and I'm a complete noob here. I only downgraded my PSP Phat last week and I'm loving PSPUAE. I had an Amiga 600 back in the day (as well as Atari 400, C64, GameCube, PS1, Dreamcast, GBA, XBox, XBox360 and most recently a GB Micro). I live in Exeter, Devon, and I'm a web developer (why so many techies here? :)), and I'm 31. Fave games are Rick and Rick2 (I'm patiently awaiting the RISS's!), Cannon Fodder, and any Dizzy game (except Fast Food!). When I'm not gaming, I'm either playing with my newborn son (I suppose I'll have to get a Wii soon then!) or drinking wine and beer (sometimes at the same time). Cheers!

:o wow. how rude i never even introduced myself properly. lol!

well, my name is Emma and im 23, and living in essex in the biggest dump heap ever -_-. i've always loved the amiga and most old computers and consoles and had my first amiga at the tender age of 6! (i miss the printer..with its one dot per inch lmao and its ear piercing screeching..ahh.. )

i whiled away countless hours on deluxe paint and playing things like buggy boy (yeah that was me on youtube lol!), lemmings, wizball and things like that with my dad and brother. i also used to love making songs with protracker in my teens and had heaps of sample disks. i dunno about anyone else but i always loved the smell of the amiga O.o. maybe im just weird lol.
i got very angry with CLI and could never work out how to use it, and was well chuffed when i worked out how to paint my own wallpapers and use it as a "desktop" on my blessed little A600.

all in all im a retro gamer at heart, but i still love some of the great titles out now, like metal gear solid, silent hill and final fantasy. (only number 7 mind you).
im also an artist, and an anime fan (not one of those scary fat fans with sweaty palms holding onto a hentai mag for all its worth taking pictures of girls in costumes. lmao).
even when i was young and all the kids had their playstations, i stuck by my amiga through it all. and even now that its broken (probably fixable) i still hold onto it. i cant bare to part with it lol.

so thats me  ;D

Nice, intro. Hows your PSP doing, you all sorted now, :).

You could ask here or over at English Amiga Board. Us or someone over there is bound to be able to help get your miggy fixed.

lol everything is working fine! got a few other emulators on there like picodrive and snes9x, working on a gameboy advance one so i can play sonic advance. but pspuae is all good, manage to get the majority of games running, but obviously some are kind of unplayable, but thats okay ^-^.

lol even when im 90, and there are playstation 673's, i'll still be playing one step beyond on my beat up old amiga and still be unable to complete it XD.

nope! its a game where you control colin curly and you have to get from one bag of quavers to another, via a series of platforms that close when you jump off them. a puzzle game basically, some platforms are timed, others bring more platforms out, some stay out all the time and some go in and out periodically. its an awesome game. :3

Must have missed that 1, I loved pushover though, great game. I suppose its similar to 1 step beyond, as it features colin telling an ant to get his quavers, ;)..
