both vote for Snes & Genesis ,never have the realy machines, but i like games of thats..
So play emulation on handless (PSP,Dingoo,iGame,) and i think Snes is a little better than all ..
@Horace SNES is not only mario..   ;)

While I had my A500 my brother had a megadrive and later a snes (complete with a floppy disc drive add-on).

Strider, Revenge of Shinobi and Streets of Rage were all games that made me want a megadrive (I never got one though and made do by playing on my bro's)... but seeing my bro on Street Fighter 2, super bomberman (with the multi tap) and Mario Kart on the snes made me actualy go out and purchase one!

I wasn't even slightly interested in the CD32 back in the day - probably due to all my games being on floppy and they weren't compatible on it (so I didn't really see the point in it?) :(. I've made amends now though and finally own the machine. :)

I never had a console back in the day but owned a SNES, N64 and PSX after they were current and have experience of the MegaDrive, NES, selection of handhelds and even the DreamCast.

I loved the SNES, it was so well supported with quality games I think it unlikely it will ever be usurped.  After that the PS1/PS2/PS3 are all excellent consoles.

The SNES was the best though....

I don't think the CD32 competes with the SNES, especially when it comes to game support.  I'm surprised anyone would suggest otherwise ;)

merely mentioning "Body Blows" to anything that the snes has to offer (beat-em-ups) is just a joke...

Body Blows vs Street Fighter 2?
.... vs "Killer Instinct" ..  'grin'

Even Marvin compared to any platformer game...   (Mario... etc etc etc)

The Amiga seriously kicked anus in the other departments though (strategy, simulation etc) - oh, and the ability to actually make games, music, and everything else!

....slow down dude!  Comparing the Miggy with the SNES isn't just off-topic, it's not comparing like for like.  That's not to say you can't say which is your favourite ofcourse...mine is the Amiga :)

let's call it "an alternative technical solution" ;)

Errmmmm, the CD32 died almost at its release due to commodore going bust.
So to say others had more / better games is stupid.

The recent winning entry at breakpoint 2010 proves the point that AGA is still awesome even today, ;).

you're right.

IK+ is far better than them all, despite being a criminally inefficient use of CD space :)

Then season a gamer could buy a console ready to die with a few games?
Moreover, most games were both Amiga and CD32, so why get a console with most the same games?
About hardware, I think the AGA never was not used enough from the developers..  ;)

I doubt the CD32 would fit into my top 5 consoles....infact, let's see;
1.  SNES
2.  PS1
3.  N64
4.  NES
5.  PS2

...maybe my top 10?

6.  PS3
7.  Gameboy
8.  Atari 2600
9.  Sega Megadrive
10.  CD32

...so there we go.

@ linesmachine, the topic clearly says "1989-93", so most of your list wouldnt apply.

@Anemos;  The only consoles I still own are the top 4 on my list;
1. SNES
2. PS1
3. N64
4. NES

Due to moving house they are all in storage and currently don't see daylight.  Hopefully that will change once I've moved later this year.  That said, the SNES gets a Xmas bashing when my brother and I meet up for some SFII!

A lot of my mates don't like the N64, but I'm a big fan of Turok II and Goldeneye, and I thought the controller was ace for FPS but slightly awkward for anything else, my fave controller overrall is the Play station (if anyoen is interested!).

By the way, that's an excellent selection of modern handhelds.  I'd love a GBA SP.
