Hi everyone,
This will become the official SIDPLAY thread, so post your ideas/suggestions and bug reports here.
SIDPLAY is available from http://www.sidmusic.org/sidplay/mac/
Cheers,

Bug: When creating a playlist, when I change which parameters to view, I can change ie. title and it will stick with all, but when I choose to turn off ie. loops, Sidplay doesn't remember it when changing lists.
Bug: Select the HVSC collection and go to any musician in HVSC with SIDPLAYs filebrowser. Now click any playlist. Now click the HVSC collection again. The arrow back is not pressable, BUT if you click on the folder before the one your in in the path bar, the back button will be pressable again. If you press the back button, nothing happens.
Bug: Make a new smartlist select song count - greater than - 2 - and press enter. Bang, crash!
It would also be nice to individually configure each playlists. In a list filled with different tunes I care more about the song's author than in my Rob Hubbard list.
Also, right now it is impossible to get smart playlists to actually STAY sorted on TITLE, which to me would be the default way of sorting tunes.
When I've searched for a song, then chosen a playlist but want to get back to my previous search... Well, I can't... Actually back to the place you've been is currently impossible in Sidplay and can be a bit frustrating.

Thanks, for this great tool! Now my favorite sid player even gots better ;)
But with 4.0 I really have trouble searching: If I enter some search term (e.g. "Jeff") I get some results very quickly... but these are only a small subset of the expected results :(
My seach options are "All" and "Full Compilation" with HVSC #48.
Term: "Jeff" gives me 12 hits... but navigating to MUSICIANS/J/JEFFS gives me pages of songs (all tagged with "Jeff"....
-
Do you get the same results if you search just with Author instead of All?
Searching for All takes a lot longer, because the spotlight query is much more complicated.
You might want to try rebuilding the Spotlight index of the collection, there's a button for this
in the prefs.
Also try running 'mdimport -L' on the command line to see if Spotlight has picked up the right
Spotlight plug-in. The old one from SIDPLAY 3.4.x had some bugs.
-
- Same results if I use "Author" instead of "All" in "Jeff" Search
- A Search for "Hubbard" gives me 4 hits with "All" and 2 hits with "Author" :/
- I only have the current 4.0 plugin installed (Fresh install of Leopard)
- Rebuilding Index in Sidplay Prefs didn't change anything
- I also checked the Spotlight "Privacy" Settings... The Music collection is not included there
Really strange...
-
Ok, this is very strange...
How many results do you get if you perform the searches in the Finder?
You can do it if you search for:
kind:psid author:hubbard
Does that work?
-
Now it works! :D
I did a complete rebuild of the spotlight database on my Mac HD with:
mdutil -E /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD
Sidplay now finds everything as expected.
Thanks again!
-
the search doesn't work on my system either.
My Mac HD is full and I am using a NTFS external drive (using 3G NTFS) for my SID but spotlight doesn't seem to work.
I tried rebuilding with SIDPLAY the spotlight database but no success.
I am not very confortable with mac os and command lines
Maybe someone can help with a simple solution.

Since it has been a little silent here, I'd just like to say that I haven't found any bugs really and since it is so much better than other sid players, I tend to be very satisfied with everything and haven't really thought much about possible improvements.

SIDPLAY 4.1 has finally been released.
Sorry for the delay, I was busy doing something else... ;)
-
I've released 4.1.1 yesterday, which fixes some bugs. One of them was affecting playback quality and timing in various tunes, which sometimes caused missing sounds.
-
Is it just me, or does the repeat button work the opposite of what I'd expect?
-
I think it's fixed in 4.12, out now!
-
I've just released SIDQuickLook 1.0, which is a QuickLook plugin for the OS X Finder to quickly preview .sid files.
Get it from the SIDPLAY page: http://www.sidmusic.org/sidplay/mac/ (http://www.sidmusic.org/sidplay/mac/)
I've also updated the SIDPlug browser plug-in to version 1.2 (it's a part of SIDQuickLook now).
-
SIDPlug 1.2 works wonderfully on my old G5. Thanks!
Any plans to update SIDPlay 3.4.x for us 10.4.11 Tiger holdouts? I'd love to see some of those cool features from SIDPlay 4.x in a Tiger compatible version. Oh please, oh please?
-
I don't really like looking back, instead I'm already working on radical new stuff... But the source is available, I would welcome someone else doing that...
-
What better way for me to learn to compile code into an app? If I am able to make something stable, I would be more than happy to put it out there for other fellow Tiger holdouts. Check your PM.
Cheers,
synchro

SIDPLAY 4.0 has been written with Leopard in mind. It would take weeks to rewrite all the features that Leopard offers on Tiger, and it's not trivial.
