Title: Raster Tunnel
Post by: puni_gds on August 19, 2007, 06:48:33 PM
Earlier today I was watching a demo from the old Polish group called Beton Dezign. The demo I saw is called Goldfingers and was released in 1995. There was one effect in particular that caught my eye and that one was called a raster tunnel. On Classicamiga.com you can see several screenshots from the demo, and if you press link (http://www.classicamiga.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4367&Itemid=102), you'll find a pic of it at the bottom of the page.

My question is; What exactly is a raster tunnel and does anyone know how to code one?

I think there is an example on how to do a raster tunnel included in the Personnal extension code.  The documentation is in French and you can't load the Personnal extension at the same time as the AMCAF extension so I haven't tried it.  It may require AGA also.

Thanks for the info, SamuraiCrow. I'll have a look at that extension you mentioned.

How much memory does it require? I tried running it under emulation on WinUAE and it kept saying "error code 10, not enough memory". I tried with 2MB chip & 8MB fast RAM and with 8MB chip & no fast RAM.

Hi there Lonewolf10,

To get it running, I'm using the following configuration for WinUAE:

CPU: 68020
CPU Emulation speed: Fastest, but maintain chipset timing
Yes to more compatible

Chipset: AGA
ROM: 3.0

RAM: 2MB chip and 8MB fast

I tried watching it now, after reading your post, and it worked perfectly when launched from Workbench.

Hope this will help. :) Please give me a sign if you need more information.
