Title: OLD TIMES, AMOS FIGHT/BATRAQUIOS
Post by: erico on May 17, 2008, 06:03:42 PM
Hi averyone,

I'm a brazilian ancient amos user, AMOS FACTORY just brings good memories from a long gone coders club.
Good to know it is back alive and kicking.

I wasn't really an active guy in the community long ago, never participated on the group-games-development but I exchanged info with a few users, particularly on the gfx side.

For me, I made two games in amos that could be considered OK, though they are not complete, they are quite playable, see if you came around any:

FIGHT - was on aminet, I believe it still is. It is a fighting game on the likes of KOF, pretty interesting, specially the way around one button to play it. The real name was X-FIGHT and it contained some 6 characteres. I guess 3 of them are kind of complete, the rest is a working in progress. I also had a final version with a cool AI single player and some extra obscure secret moves but I guess this version never saw the public and I believe I lost the code. One thing here, I can't seem to run the game on UAE, it locks for some reason, maybe my code was such a mess even the emu can't handle it?

BATRAQUIOS ME MORDAM - This one I believe I never released. It is a frog fly clone, was on AMOS FACTORY long ago. It is a FROG's FLY kind of clone, where you go around with tinny frogs eating flyes and avoiding hazzards. It was supposed to have 4 players/single machine but I have had implemented 2 players only. All 36 levels are there with 2 bosses. The game is complete but it dosen't have intros and the likes. This one I still have here, and the code too, as I rescued my old A4000 HD, installed on the PC and made an image of it to run on the emu. This I would like to release, as I'm sure you all may have a blast with it.

That's it for me, I'm still interested on coding, and looking foward to DARK BASIC whenever I get time to anything.
It was good to be here again. thanks

Thats the King of fighters deries from the neogeo, fighting games. In fact it is more like year Kung FU meets street fighter in a single button hehe, it is there on aminet, under game 2play the file is fight.lha
it is a bit hard to run though.

erico,

Welcome to this site. I just downloaded your game (Fight) and will play it tomorrow. I will also (with your permission) add it to the games listed on www.amigacoding.com (not my site).

In regards to BATRAQUIOS ME MORDAM, I would like a copy please. I need it to help complete an archive of the old Amos Factory site from around 2000. Plus, I would love to play it and see what it's like.

Regards,
Lonewolf10

Ok, the FIGHT.lha at aminet has old email and contact info. Also, the instructions sucks.
I finaly got FIGHT to run on the last version of WIN UAE.

You may have some trouble running it. Since it is not a final version.
I will get both FIGHT and BATRAQUIOS ME MORDAM together with proper instructions
and will send it here.

It is ok to post anywhere you may, I just would want to update some info so
there could be a chance some one that plays it gets in contact.

Now on running FIGHT, copy it to a folder on your HD
assign FIGHT: to it
run FIGHT

On my system it goes like this:
assign FIGHT: BOOT:fight

I believe you could name a disk FIGHT and copy the folder contents to it.
But it is bigger than the normal disk size.

thanks

I got Fight to run from my harddrive (under WinUAE emulation) :)

Only 3 characters playable, and 4 levels. Unfortunately the 2nd opponent is only computer controlled when you select the same 1P and 2P players, even in 1P mode!!!

I love the fact it is cartoony and not trying to be realistic fighter like so many other Street Fighter/King Of Fighter clones. There are some other cool AMOS fighting games I have listed on www.amigacoding.com (including Fight which I just added a few minutes ago).

Thanks, but I don't own the site.

I am simply helping create and update it (as requested by the site owner).

Edit: BTW, theres atleast 400 games and software created in AMOS. I just haven't had the time to add them all yet.
