Hi, i am new to this forum, I have recently decided to add some new gfx to our old amiga p.d game called renegades which was programmed using amos pro. I tried to compile it last night using winuae and kept getting an error message saying 'not an amos program'...i have tried fiddling with other settings but still no joy.
What am i doing wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

have you tried checking if the program extension is .AMOS ?
love !!!

Thankyou Rednova!
Yes, I have, but i have the feeling I set the target path for the compiled program as the .amos file, thus writing over the .amos file with a compiled version.
This has caused a headache as you could expect!
I am trying to fix this with my various backups (unfortunately that mistake has been costly in time)
Thanks again for your time

Maybe theres a .bak file of your last edit of the file.

LordNipple,
I always stick my compiled programs in a test directory (e.g. "AMOS_Compiled") specifically to avoid problems like that.
I hope you have sorted out your problem.

Hi!
Sorry for the lonnnng delay in me replying to this thread.
My problem has long since been sorted now, I eventually persuaded the programmer to come back on board and help me finish the job...which was to update our old P.D Renegades...Renegades Deluxe was released at the tail-end of last year and was well received. Although if I had my way I would be still working on it but the programmer is done with the Amiga now.
Thanks again for any help here. :)

will the programmer release the AMOS source code for us to expore / learn from ? I love seeing other people's approaches to game program problems!

I will see what I can arrange, I don't think I got the updated code from Kev and I am not sure he even has it now.
I know the original amos code exists on the .adf of the original release, there were only a few changes made to that code to create the update so you could have a look at that. Be warned though, there are NO comments in the code and Kev says it's the sloppiest programming in existence, he did code it in his teens to be fair. :)
You can download the .adf from here:
