Title: UAE4All on Android
Post by: FOL on September 26, 2012, 12:49:43 PM
Thought I would post about this as its a pretty good emu.
Runs full speed, plus the touch controls are ok (in my opinion).

Anyone else using it?

yeah runs demos at full speed but has no memory settings so settlers dont work as u would want to and there is no aga support and the input is bad coz in project x the weapons are upgrading by itself so its bad:/ memory can by forgiven coz its port of uae4all but bugs like self upgrading wepaons are bad:/

ohh and tuch screen is not good because its not like touch pad but some unlinear mapping:l

there was some wip on puae4droid but Tomek Wojtowicz is not updating his site :l
still good work as for one mam did it

If it uses config override and has mem code, you may be able to alter hidden settings.

I have been looking at compiling puae myself.
Just have no time at moment, plus need to finish pspuae.

the biggest problems of puae is that it have bad interface configuration and no keyboard support, it doesn't use cyclone core optimized for arm so its laggs but cyclone is full speed emulation even on such low ends as  x10minipro

But you add cyclone, then its pointless using PUAE, as you wont be able to emulate anything over 68000.
You may aswell use UAE4Droid with its updated FAME/C core and cyclone, which runs full speed anyway.

but uae4droid doesn't support memory options so you can't play settlers:) I mean you can run it but you don't have memory to load full sounds and missions, projec-x does work too BUT (again some but)its ugrades weapons it self so we go to the point: ''you can run it BUT something will not be working''

enitre idea of playing amiga games/programs on touch only phones is crappy because its really uncomfortable

your pspuae is very cool but psp is too slow to handle amiga

amazing machine:o

this is my machine:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oNAebHQN_4

a little bit older and slower and smaller than yours but handles uae4droid at full speed with frame skip 0-1
fully supports key mappings to qwerty but 600 mhz and screen size is to low to run droidpuae on it

Problem is the specs.

No point in the device if it cant be upgraded due to lack of memory.
512MB is too small in my opinion.

Spose its fine for now, but nearly all android devices have 1GB RAM.
They will have problems, when updating to later firmwares.

JXD S5110 has better spec, but still same RAM.
They only seem interested in 512MB, wierd.

They also, let people download all nintendo GBA games, lol.

if he have kernel with swap module then he can do swap partition on sd card but most programs on android don't need anything more than android 2.2-2.3

if you wish you can always buy Sharp SH631U with 4GB ram but is pointless and its like having 8GB ram on your windows XP when it only supports 3.25

Wow, Anemos. I think I'll get me one, too, or better the JXD S5110. how is the screen compared to PSP? And how is the case- does it feel cheap, or OK?

Hello dan, no is good quality, screen PAnel is like PSP quality button also, is very good for this cost!
Also can be root, can play everything of android apk,
well im new on android but this staff i thing is good, coz is easy to play games with original buttons and stick analog, (and not on touch controls only "i hate it").

Indeed it is, rooting is simple, :).
If you need info on rooting ICS, I can post. Done it to mine god knows how many times, :).

Anemos, is the hardware unbrickable like the A10 AllWinner hardware?

FOL im very noob on android systems, mobiles ect.... dunno nothing for "rooting ICS" and "A10 AllWinner"..
Yes is easy to unbrick ,JXD has menu recovery and more..
read some:

Well from what it says there, the hardware is brickable.

With the A10 Allwinner hardware. It boots into a flash mode with usb and direct access to the nand (this is hardcoded).
So even if you screw up the main boot files (files recovery cant touch), you can reflash over and over to your hearts content, you will never end up with a full brick.

I prefer this type of hardware, granted no A10 has psp look, but for deving purposes its ideal.
Its also ideal for someone new to android and ends up full bricking their device.

Yeah, P-UAE boots on my x10mini pro, but its slow.

Depends on hardware, on my pimped out Nexus7, its full speed. All Im missing is Picasso and left mouse button working properly.

Been running uae4all2 on my new galaxy tab3... seems good but I actually want to disable touchscreen for some thjngs, the sdl settings dont save, theres no cd32 mapping, the custom controls configs seem limited, and theres no "amiga" OSK making F-buttons impossibke to reach and all these little things add up to spoil my enjoyment of a potentially amazing emu.

Would like to know your thoughts on this FOL

Thoughts, I agree.
I dont have much time to spent time on setting up linux to compile for android. Really want to compile kitkat for my kids tablets, but its a nightmare.

Ive been using E-UAE which is pretty cool. P-UAE is also cool as its updated with lots of WinUAE goodies.

E-UAE and P-UAE i assume dont have any GUIs on them?

How do they deal with touchscreen, or mouse control etc?

You have to setup the .uaerc file before running. Im currently using E-UAE with picasso support. The mouse isnt that perfect, but I use joymouse.

joymouse wont work on non-dos though will it?

what i mean is, i assume you dont get on-screen touch controls? (joystick etc) like in uae4all2.

if so, how do you set those up... they arent standard for e-uae.  are you using the touchscreen (whole) for the mouse, or just an area (like using a touchpad) ... i am assuming joypads work fine with it, so is the joy-to-mouse control working (like in PSPUAE) or is it buggered like it is on every other UAE!

I have no problem setting up a text editor to create my uaerc file, its just a bit of a pain!

Its all setup through SDL. You have on screen controls, you can add remove assign to keys, etc etc.
So joymouse to get round poor touch mouse control and then you use same on screen controls for games. It works ok, but of late been having odd issues, latest uae4all2 no longer works with my custom kickstart and custom 3.9 install.
