Title: E-UAE-0.8.29-WIP3 released
Post by: Hungry Horace on August 01, 2006, 01:54:43 AM
It would appear that the e-uae code on which PSPUAE is based has been updated again.

This news comes courtsey of http://www.rcdrummond.net/uae/ where you can find more detailed information, and the release itself.

E-UAE-0.8.29-WIP3 released

A new WIP release is here - slowly treading the path to a more featureful and stable 0.8.29 version. Lots of progress has been made. See the README and the Changelog for more details.

Perhaps some of the cleaning up which has apparently taken place will help give PSPUAE a little more speed and/or compatibility, should FOL and Ric undertake the task of switching some of the old e-UAE code for this new version.

Good luck guys!

lol - winuae would be soooooo slow!   that bad boy eats processor power - becasue it aims for accuracy in emulation over all other constraints.

plus the fact winUAE is all x86 assembler.

Id like full screen but, I think the menu stops it going fullscreen, i tried and tried, but it keeps it shifted over no matter what, :(

I gues you may have wondered what I have been up to lately. Well, I did a "port" of UAE4ALL to the PSP to see if it would be better performing. UAE4All is the codebase that is used on the GP2X console.

I couldn't use the fame core but used the standard UAE core and unfortunately it doesn't seem faster than e-UAE. I think it is because UAE4ALL uses SDL. I don't think I am going further down that route except for maybe borrowing a couple of ideas for performance improvements from the source.

I also created a simple profiler for PSPUAE so that it is easier to optimize the code. It is clear that the sound code is a killer of performance but it is difficult to optimize.

My next step is to update to WIP3 and then do some profiling of it.

Damn that fame core looked good in writing. lets hope the WIP3 will be faster.

fame is not available for the MIPS processor but there may be good news as a fame/c core seems to be on its way. I have written to the author and asked him to send the code.

You are the man, ;). Damn glad I got in contact with Horace and got this site rolling. I just love the Amiga, and my dream now is to have a full speed handheld version with HD support, ;).

Who would have thought it 10 years ago that we would all be playing Amiga games on a handheld console, long live the Amiga and its massive fan base.
