Hello all
I have attached to this post a couple of pre-installed packages of a recent slave update for Bloodwych i have worked on. I would appreciate any feedback on these!
There were two issues I wanted to address, i have done so via CUSTOM tooltypes.
Firstly, the requirement of using Arrow Keys, plus HELP/DEL to move around - excellent control system for an A500, not so good for an A600 or a modern laptop. I have therefore added a tooltype that does the following;
CUSTOM2=1 ... Swap Player 1/Player 2 control keys (so that player 1 can be on the left if wanted, or a single player can use teh QWEASD controls)
CUSTOM2=2 ... remaps the second player from the cursor keys to UIOJKL ... thus making the controls suitable for an A600 or a laptop.
CUSTOM2=3 ... this of course, does both of the above.
The second CUSTOM tooltype i've added, is for CD32 Controls - unusaly you might say for an RPG game, but one i think works quite well given Bloodwych's 'fast arcade style'....
I wanted to replicate the previous Pad mappings i've used on the PS3 pad and PSP... albeit with a slight variation to allow for the fact only one set of direction keys are available (meaning that cursor control, and movement control have to operate separately)
CUSTOM3=1 enables CD32 controls for both players.... in doing so Player one is automatically changed to a joystick control rather than the mouse of the original game.
Standard controls are as follows;
Red - normal 'fire' or click
Blue - switches 'walk mode' on - at which point the cursor will not move.
Green - makes your party attack (even in walk mode)
Yellow - open a door in front of you (even in walk mode)
When 'walk mode' is enabled, using the direction buttons will move you as normal (i.e. like with the keyboard controls) and FWD/RWD can be used to rotate.
By adding values of '2' or '4' to the CUSTOM3 tooltype (i.e. =3, =5 or =7) you can change the operation of the 'blue' button from a toggle mode, to a 'hold to operate' mode, for each player.... CUSTOM3=7 therefore used the 'hold' method for both players.
When using CD32 controls, you are limited to 1 save slot only (slot 0)
All registration only features have been removed, as agreed with Girv.
I will be glad to hear your feedback on this!!
Cheers. :)

A few notes on that;
1- I've discovered that the PSPUAE CD32 pad mapping is wrong (you cant get 'yellow' at all!!)
2- I'm about to make another update to the beta, adding a couple of extra buttons
3- I will have to upload an ADF which will "install" Bloodwych WHDload for you to play directly on PSPUAE :)
4- at the moment i would recommend playing of the game on FS-UAE or another pc/mac variant. One of the reasons for this patch is to make it "easy" to play Bloodwych via a pad without needing to set up lots of custom key-mapping!!
5- from testing on a PSP-1000 i definitely recommend using the "toggle" (default) option for the walk controls
Since writing the above, i have added support for all 3 IPFs and Bloodwych Extended Levels. :D
I have some ideas for creating a "deluxe" or maybe CD version of Bloodwych with animations and stuff, (i even think i might be able to "hack" in an end-game animation) but i would need an artist... would you be interested Osiris?
I will also be investigating the possibility of extra sound effects throughout the game, if i can find where the existing sound-player routine is. :)

Attached highDensity ADF should work on PSPUAE, and has the default CD32 options set.
from the CLI, if you type "2" you could in theory load the extend levels i think....

There is a bug on PSPUAE and *only* PSPUAE.....
you need to select the "skip intro" option from the WHDLoad splash screen. Something strange happens whereby the "start player one" option does not work if the intro screen is seen.... i assume some memory corruption ??
Thinking it was a bug on my part (i.e. the WHDload slave) i moved my memory address patches from $100-$350 to $7F100-$$7F350.... almost half a meg difference and the bug still happened!!!!
PSPUAE is very strange at times. Perhaps it would not happen with slightly different settings... but either way it doesnt happen on any other version of UAE.
Edit... By doing that tampering I have broken the cd32 controlled load/save routine.... Grr!!!
even more updated RISS /ADF attached!
