Title: Early curved platform demo
Post by: KevG on January 02, 2016, 02:20:44 PM
Hi folks

The link below will allow you to download a very early version of my new curved platform algorithm. Don't expect any scrolling or fancy graphics at this stage. Its just a simple proof of concept but I would appreciate it if people could download it and test it on different Amiga's and report back here.

To download the demo simply click on the attachment at the bottom of this post.

Features:

1. Very fast detection. Lots of time left for other things.
2. (Almost) pixel perfect collision checks with curved platforms.
3. basic gravity and inertia implemented.

To do:

1. Too many to list.

I only just seen this, it works very well :)

Would like to see the source code :)

I though I had already replied to this, but it seems I didn't  :o

I know I downloaded the demo and was quite impressed by it. Have you had any chance to advance further with it? (e.g. use it in a game or a larger 'play area'?)

Hi Lonewolf10....

Yes, I did a little bit more with it but nothing is working yet. I spent ages coding a tile map editor specifically for it and that is almost done. Unfortunately, I work full time and finding the spare time to get some sort of demo together is a problem for me at the moment. But, I am working on it when I can.

Really impressive accuracy of collisions, but it should be tested when there are more objects on the screen.  Now the real speed is unknown.

Hi folks.

Sorry for being away so long but I now have the time to do some more.
Also, I have a new account because I couldn't recover my old one for some reason.
Attached you will find an .adf with an improved algorithm. I'll do more when I can.

New:-

1. Wall checks
2. Ceiling checks
3. Ladders
4. Moving platforms
5. Rotating platforms
6. Faster collision checks
7. Some bugs (some that I already know about)

Please download and test. I welcome your feedback.
