Hey all.

I played the Amstrad CPC version back in the day and got stuck some 20 levels in... so I hope one day to replay the game and get passed that bit!

However, what confuses me is that the Amstrad and seemingly Speccy version seemed to be significantly different than the Amiga / PC versions. The Amiga / PC versions seem to start in some sort of town (!) and have different towers. The Amstrad / Spectrum version skipped that and was a linear dungeon crawl - e.g. see the maps at: http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0000592

So, my question is - are the Amstrad / Spectrum levels just a subset of the Amiga / PC version, or are they significantly different?

People seem to say I should play the Amiga version but I kinda want to recapture the experience of my youth.

Pretty sure they were kind of made side by side but they cut a lot of items (including wall types) out of the 8 bit version.

You also lose out on a lot of monster types etc

I think they did a fairly good job of keeping the level layouts similar but they do take quite a bit of creative license to get there!

Okay, with some effort I've got both the Amiga and CPC versions running in emulation. So I might go with a parallel run through. However, given my free time (or lack thereof) this will likely take *months*. I'll let you know how it goes!
