How to delete files inside folder inside AMOS?
« on: July 31, 2021, 07:24:53 PM »

   Hey guys,

I am making an editor for a game engine I completed. When you make a new project it makes a new directory and makes new level files and game.dat file in there. But if I make a project with the same name as the original project, I want it after prompt for the user that the project already exist, that it deletes all the files inside this folder and any subfolders and their files before deleting the main folder in order to make a new folder with the same name as the old folder that got deleted and make the new project. I don't know how to delete files inside this folder in AMOS?

Also one more thing, how do I code inside AMOS to copy files from one location to another? Thanks in side.

Do you use the AMCAF extension?  It has wrapper functions for Examine and ExNext to identify all directories inside the current one... And all the files for that matter.

As for copying files, you just WLoad your file into a work bank and WSave it where you want it.  Unless you don't use AMCAF, then you have to make your own WLoad and WSave using the Open, Length, Close, Reserve as Work Bank, BLoad, BSave and Delete Bank.  In that order.

Thank you so much for your reply. Where can I download the extension and how do I use it to load the executable file and save it in reserve as work and then save it back again from reserve as work to a new location?

Also where can I download the extension? Thanks in advance.

The AMCAF extension is on the Aminet among other places.  It has an instruction manual here on the UltimateAmiga.com forums if you click on the Amos section in the left column.

I tried installing it but I get an error says cannot open extension and now AMOS cannot be opened anymore. (Should have made backup of it's interpter_config file before doing any changes to it. Now I need to reinstall AMOS all over again. I downloaded the version 1.50 where it says it is shareware. Was that a mistake from my end?
