PSPUAE Plugin Slow down
« on: September 02, 2007, 07:45:47 PM »

Right, with the release of Pandora all PSP's (Excluding PSP Slim) are now open to running Homebrew. This is great, as anyone (well anyone that wants to use it) will now be able to use PSPUAE.

That aside, I have recently been doing something else. I have now come back to playing PSPUAE and I have noticed something. Its running slower, at least 1 to 2 frames slower than 0.63BE (even though im running BE). This is where you guys (gals) come in, I pandora'ed my PSP (to test it out). I need someone with a PSP (that hasnt been Pandora'ed) Version 3.40 OE, 3.51 M33 and 3.52 M33, to test something out for me. Im not sure if its because I have pandora'ed my PSP or the 3.52 M33-4 FW thats causing the problem.

If people with said versions, could simply load PSPUAE and check the FPS on kickstart 1.3 screen, it should sit at 3 FrameSkip and not alter. Mine is altering between 4 and 5, hence I quickly picked up on issue. I pretty sure its since updating to 3.52 M33-4, before pandora'ing.

If its a Firmware issue, need to find out why its happening and hopefully sort it out.

Found the problem, after a few hours messing about.

If turned out to be plugins running in recovery. So if you have any plugins running on boot, PSPUAE will not run as intended. Disable all plugins before starting PSPUAE, and you will get the fastest possible speed that this release has to offer.

I've disabled all plugins on 3.71M33-2 and the sound is still choppy.

Real AMIGA = A500+ Cartoon Classics Pack

Run AMIGA HD via R.I.S.S. Saves on 1GB Card with CFW in PSPUAE.

Runs PSPUAE on the non overdumped AF Roms.

Use A1200 most of the time on PSPUAE because of R.I.S.S.

hmmmmm, you have lost me completely.

Choppy?

Try CPU speed option, alter CPU speed to chipset, then set it to around 85% and see how it goes. PSPUAE is not Full Speed, but its getting faster and faster. There is a problem in the sound code, which i started looking at before my recent pc crash, but i lost all that work and have to start from scratch, :(.

Well it did fix the playing speed at least. The sound is still crappy though.

I'm surprised that Hungrey Horace isn't a main PSPUAE programmer, seeming as he programs the R.I.S.S. files!!!!!

RISS only involves a bit of amiga-dos scripting, and at most some AMOS basic programming.

i havent got on-top of C yet!

OUCH!!!!!. I have done lots of R.I.S.S. states to, ;). As horace said though its mostly dos scripting. Plus WHDLoad makes R.I.S.S. states possible, and deserve all Amiga users support.
