Can't get any roms to work
« on: July 18, 2006, 08:42:59 AM »

Just downloaded the 0.51 version, installed it (well, copied over the folders 1:1), put the kick roms into the amiga root folder, put my Amiga roms into the DISKS folder.
I am generally installign and running a lot of Homebrew, so I like to think that I know how to install/copy that stuff.

Now the emulator itself boots up fine. See the Amiga 1.3 bootup logo (good old memories), can change options and whatever.

However, after I inserted a floppy (ANY rom) and restart Amiga, the whole emu freezes and/or completely shuts down my (1.5) PSP.

Never had any problems with the old PSPUAE release 1 year ago. BOTH, the roms and the kickroms work perfectly fine with the old release and WinUAE.

Don't know what to do, and pretty much sure that hardly anyone can help me here since I already tried everything one could give as a standard advice (like reformatting my memory stick 28 times).

Also feeling a bit stupid, since I am obviously the only person (in the world) with this issue -.-

[edit]
Just reinstalled the 041 release for testing purposes, and it runs any roms without problems...

check that when running 0.51 the options are flicking over to zero memory - and delete ALL configs you have in the folder.

these have both caused the same crash as you are getting on my psp in the past.

Or your pushing the Memory to far, This will cause freezing and crashing (Trust me I have tested and tested, some settings wont work, even if you wont them to, ;)). I wanted 1Meg Slow, 1Meg Chip and 1Meg Fast, its a no no. As it boots fine, as soon as you stick adf in, it freezes and crashes. Think memory options need to be looked at to stop setting them over the top.

that's righ, current limit is 1.5 meg.

although i think the minimum amount that would be best in the future is 2 meg, if HDF support is to ever be included. (althogh that's still not enough for SWOS, i believe galahad is in the process of updating his SWOS slave - quite probably to use less memory)

Cant wait for HD support ;). All my own compilations on my PSP, and all on my early Birthday present (4GB Pro Duo, good to remove that big Datel 4HD (Which my little brother loves)).

Always tested it with a fresh install, so no configs to delete.
Didn't change anything in the options either, and used the default settings. So I shouldn't be pushing the memory too far.

Admittedly I don't really understand what you mean by "check that when running 0.51 the options are flicking over to zero memory".

Anyway, thanks for the replies so far. Although I still can't run any Amiga games on my PSP T.T

to check the memory all you have to do is gpto the options, and if it reads:

chipmem : 0 kb
fastmem : 0kb
bogomem : 0kb

then you're in for a crash!

everything needs at least 512 kb of Chipmem!

i find your problem strange, because i used to get the same fault myself when booting through e-loader..... turned out i it only worked with auto-start - but since you'r using 1.5 - i'm stumped!

Indeed it is odd, I have downloaded the packages from here, and tested on my 2.00 Downgraded to 1.50 and my brothers 2.60 downgraded to 1.50 and it all works fine, with the default settings and the correct Kickrom1.3.

Really appreciate you guys replies, but still doesn't work.

Actually my chipmem was at 0kb (other 2 at 512) so I thought that might be it. Switched all 3 to 512... still freezes the PSP as soon as I insert any floppy -.-
(And I used the same roms and kickroms for years with WinUAE).

Well, guess all I can do is to stick to the old 0.41. Better a slow Emu than no Emu.

Are you booting to the kickrom, then inserting an adf? if so, try inserting adf then click reset.

try this..
delete all PSP-UAE of your PSP ..
make new dirs again whit defult settings..
try whit 3.1 kickrom and 68020 cpu ..
the first time of this..insert a disk.adf...play ..make 1 save state
quit the emu..
restart emu ..and first.. select  LOAD state ! (no file.adf, first)
after u can select any adf disk!
and every time start whit load-state and after select disk.adf
tryit.
