How to emulate an Amiga 500 on a Mac

1. Get the files

First you need the actual emulator.
Get it here: http://www.e-uae.de.vu/
Click "E-UAE" in the menu, then choose "Universal Version".

Now you need a nice user interface for running this little beast.
Get it here: http://www.pimley.net/projects/
Click "Hi-Toro" and then on the download file

Get a kickstart 1.3 ROM file.
This is the Amiga's operating system and is still copyrighted.
You CAN'T get them from me, but one hint: "Google". :)

Get Amiga .adf files.
Games, demos, utilities, they're all available as .adf files with
a bit of googling.

2. Setup the system

Put all the files in the same folder (for making this a bit easier).
Run Hi-Toro.
First go to the top screen menu and choose preferences in the Hi-Toro menu.
Select the E-UAE application you downloaded earlier ("the little beast").
In this panel, you should also set "After invoking E-UAE, Hi-Toro should:" to "WAIT".

Press OK to get back to the program window.

Press ROM in the menu in the program window.
Press SELECT at the right side and choose the kickstart ROM you downloaded.
Press CHIPSET in the menu. Choose OCS under type.
Press FLOPPIES and to the right of DF0: press SELECT. Now choose an .ADF file.
Press OK and off you go!

A couple of tips:

-- You can tweak the DISPLAY and AUDIO settings to your liking.
-- As you see, there are a lot of options, and you can even emulate AGA enabled Amigas.
-- As you start tweaking the settings, it's smart to SAVE different configurations for running different programs.
