Introduce yourself!
« on: February 10, 2008, 10:10:39 PM »
My name is Jarle Berntsen, currently employed as a Flash designer/programmer and voice-actor.
Besides from the obvious computer interest I'm also a massive animation fan, especially everything early Disney.

I got a C64 back in '84 and an Amiga in 1990. The games and demos of these computers spawned a life long passion for the fun side of computing in me, and I now enjoy both new and old technology. I love watching old Amiga demos and play old C64 games on my Mac. I also need my regular mod and sid fix to keep me from grumpiness. :)

Here's a picture of me with Rob Hubbard, who I had the pleasure of meeting at the Copenhagen Retro Concert 2005. No question about who is who, eh? :)

An all too short list of C64 favourites:

Games: Impossible Mission, Paradroid, Exploding Fist, Ghostbusters, Falcon Patrol, Last Ninja, High Noon, Summer Games, Stock Market, IK+, Spy vs Spy, G.I. Joe, Bruce Lee, Rock 'n Wrestle.

Demos: Edge of Disgrace, Dutch Breeze, Desert Dream (C64 Remix), Cycle, Natural Wonders, the Pimple Squeezers, CBM Demo disk (yeah, the Christmas 'show'!), Freezer, Sophisticated, The Wild Bunch, Error 23, Sharp, Boogie Factor.

Amiga:

Games: Lemmings, Pinball Dreams/Fantasies/Illusions, Strider, Supremacy, Roketz, Push Over, Future Wars, Defender of the Crown, North and South, Nuclear War, Shufflepuck Cafe, Turrican, Cannon Fodder.

Demos: Desert Dream, Red Sector Megademo, Love, Enigma, Hardwired, Sanity's World of Commodore, Extension, Substance, Origin, Real, Nexus 7, Friday at Eight, Jesterday.

I'm "Wilsh" on a lot of other forums, "Ikaruga" on many others.

I generally work in IT, but also produce music (drum & bass, breaks, ambient) with 8 tunes currently signed to record labels and awaiting release. I'll put my myspace page here when the player actually works in it.

Started on the C64 after using my brothers Speccies for years. From there moved to the Amiga where I stayed until 2000. I produced music for demo groups on the Amiga such as Nerve Axis, Grasshopper Development, RNO etc. Do a search for Wilsh on any decent scene site with music.

Could be here all day if I list faves, but some selected on the Amiga are :

Games - Goal!, ATR, F1GP, Sensible Soccer, Uridium 2, Stunt Car Racer
Demos - Bass Notech, Complex Real, Team Hoi Aga Demo 1, Arte Sanity, Grasshopper Developments Magical Box, State of the Arte Spaceball, Stellar(??) Darkroom, Virtual Dreams - Full Moon, Essence Crazy Sexy Cool... and I could go on!

Hi guys,

My real name is Huxley, but I've gone by SpaceBoy on a number of other retro-computing forums.  I've been using and collecting old hardware and software since I was a kid in the early '90s - my family was pretty poor, and simply couldn't afford newer hardware.  My first computer was an IBM 5150 PC, and I quickly added (by scrounging at thrift stores, yard sales, dumps, etc.) a TRS-80 CoCo, an Apple IIe, and dozens more, including an Amiga 500 and 1000.

Just a few days ago, I picked up a complete Commodore 64 collection.  The batch was given to me by the original owners, who simply needed to clear some room in their garage.  The lot included a pair of "breadbox" 64's (one with a better keyboard than the other), a 1702 monitor, 2 disk drives (one original style, and one later "slim" model), and two file boxes of extra stuff.  One box contains a ton of books relating to the C64 and 128 - manuals, programmers references, field-repair guides, and even a hand-bound issue of "Cracker Jax," a 'zine dedicated to breaking C64 copy protection.  Also, that box contains approximately 25-35 issues of "Compute's Gazette" magazine.  Awesome reading!

The other box was loaded with software and carts.  I got two Epyx FastLoad carts, a "Final Cartridge III," and a cart of Jeff Minter's "Gridrunner."  There are also about 50 loose floppies, mostly the disks that came with magazines like those Compute's, as well as about half-a-dozen other "magazine"-style disks.  Finally, there are about 10-12 boxed games, including several Infocom games (love the "feelies!"), Skyfox (in the cool "album" case), a bunch of SSI strategy games, and more.

Awesome haul, and a great way to really jump-start my Commodore collection!  I already had a 1702 screen, a C64 (in the later-style case) and a 128 (needs a power brick), but now I've got all the cables, accessories and software I need to really dive in.

Good times.

Huxley

Hi!

My name is Michael and I'm using MacOS X since May 2006. I'm mostly active in http://forum.infinitemac.com/. I got to this pages through some links (don't know which ones) and it's great to find such a page.

I started programming on a standard VC-20 in 1988, got my first own C64 in 1989 and the the whole things with Amiga, Win98 and WinXP. Actually my configuration is a C128 with 2 MB BBG-RAM, 1571, 1581 and a CMD HD combined with a 640MB-MO drive. My actually used C64 has a Flash 8 accelerator card with 1 MB RAM. I reduced my Amigas to an A1000, A1200/040, A4000T/060 and maybe I'll get my A3000 back to run AMIX on it, I hope it will make use of this crazy A2410 graphics card.

I'm running MacOS X 10.5.3 on my AMD Opteron 185 (2x 2,9 GHz) using 4 GB RAM and 1,32 TB harddisk. My other three 'Macs' are all based on AMD Athlon 64 4000+ with 2 or 3 GB RAM.

I'll keep this brief; long-time Amiga user (various models) until the late 90s, started using eUAE a few months ago, and finally bit the bullet and bought an A1200 recently (although I'm in the midst of preparing to move house so I'm still mostly using eUAE for convenience).  On the Mac side, I switched a couple of years ago (my MBP rev 1 is slowly falling apart and will probably be replaced by a shiny new one next year), and I still kick myself for not doing it sooner.

Hi,

My name is Pete and I'm from Durham in the UK. Got my C64 for Xmas 1983, and still use it today. I now own 3 C64s, a 128D, VIC-20, Plus/4, 3 Spectrums (2 48K, 1 +2) and a BBC B. Also own and Amiga 600 and 1200.

Been a Mac user for 2 years now after getting really sick of constant antivirus, spam, adware updates, Windoze bug fixes and BSOD. Vista was the final straw, so I got myself an iMac and have been over the moon ever since.

My fav C64 games (at the moment) are: Krakout, Bounty Bob Strikes Back, Last Ninja series, Encounter, Monty Mole series, Manic Miner, Flimbo's Quest and the new Sub Hunter.

I'm an active member of http://www.commodorecomputerclub.co.uk

I also have a 1541U+ which is used with my VIC-20, C64, 128D and Plus/4. A fantastic piece of kit, makes life so much easier  ;D

That'll do for now I think.

Pete.
