Hmm, this is strange. I have found that the second analog stick works regardless of what is in the configuration file (*), and unfortunately changing the configuration file has no effect. Is there another setting that needs to be set for these custom settings to take effect? What does input.config do? It defaults to 0 but many forum posts suggest setting this to 2.

* The right analog stick has up and down mapped to left and right, with left and right mapped to up and down. Very confusing!

oh, are you using hi-toro to launch E-UAE?

if so, it will automatically push the config choice back to 'zero' - this is used in winUAE et al. for "configuration mode", but this is no good for most pads. (for example, with the PS3 pad, the select button is button 1, making it the amiga fire button!)

you need to add the following to your config file:

Code: [Select]
input.config=1
which then allows you to use input.1.etc settings.. eg;

Code: [Select]
input.1.joystick.0.disabled=0
input.1.joystick.0.axis.0=JOY2_HORIZ.0
input.1.joystick.0.axis.1=JOY2_VERT.0

but you will need to launch the config with E-UAE directly (see picture)

did you find out if the dpad was mapped to buttons, or H/V axis?

hope this works for you :)

Oops, yes I had been using Hi-Torro. For sanity I started over with a new input configuration based on your advice and found the following to work,

Code: [Select]
input.config=1

input.1.joystick.0.disabled=0
input.1.joystick.0.axis.2=JOY2_HORIZ.0
input.1.joystick.0.axis.3=JOY2_VERT.0
input.1.joystick.0.button.0=JOY2_FIRE_BUTTON.0
input.1.joystick.0.button.1=JOY2_2ND_BUTTON.0
input.1.joystick.0.button.2=JOY2_3RD_BUTTON.0

Launching the configuration file directly with E-UAE, the D-pad and primary fire button is enabled. I'll need to test the other buttons with a more recent game.

Thanks again for all your help.

glad to hear you got it working.

i find mapping to a CD32 pad layout with a PS pad quite brilliant myself :)

a PPC binary is included, although it's older.

You dont need access to the secion if you use the mirror link in the release thread. :)

although FOL is aware of the downloads problem and i keep nagging him to fix it.

edit: threads merged :)  - please see first post for download link
