Questions for Francois Lionet
« on: December 08, 2008, 07:36:24 PM »

I found it easy to contact (email) Francois and he seemed very happy when I asked about using amospro related stuff (like the amospro inline help function texts and the amospro disks) on amigacoding.com. So I don't think he'll mind if AMOSPro was used in AmiKit or an addon to it.

You're in a unique position.
Why ? Because I'm directly in contact with him?

I personally think Francios has lost his love for AMOS & the Amiga otherwise he would have made an AGA version which we've all been waiting for.

Quiz him on that subject please.
Done, I sent back my questions yesterday evening and added your question. (I've asked about 15 question from past to present)
I'll keep you informed.

You seem to be in anger?

He could still make a pretty penny for his work charging a fee to download.
What do you mean with this?

BTW he told me that Amos/Amos Pro can be freely provided on any website or any package (without profit of course)

He's like a one hit wonder never capable of duplicating virgin success.

I think it's quite remarkable to make such a product for a large part (most coding) on your own.
Never capable sounds like you regard him as unfit...? As in he's good... But I dislike him for being not twice as good? :P

Im sure i speak for everyone when i say we want a dedicated AGA version of AMOS Pro.

I would, yes.

He could still make a pretty penny for his work charging a fee to download.

Theres enough of us AMIGA lovers and bedroom programmers still out there.

maybe, maybe not. Would you take the risk and work on an AGA version a whole year?
Even if it means you have to spend every night working on it (=no time for wife) or
make AMOS a dayjob again (would that pay the bills?).

I mailed the creator of Croak2 (a frogger clone) once. His game was shareware and featured
on some Amiga magazines coverdisk. If I recall correctly he told me that only one person registered.
(well two after I did :P)

What a cop out sounds like Mr Francios was only interested in profit just like his editor.

no matter who wrote it, AMOS was a commercial product like any other. No profit, no development. I dont see this as a "cop out" at all... we all have to make money to live, and AMOS obviously wasnt a "hobby" project for Francois, but a full-time job like any other.

Wow, it's cool that we can ask Francois about AMOS :)

I agree, AMOS was a work-related project and releasing an AGA version against Europress' wishes may have gotten him into a legal battle (despite having written the software).
