Amos for Amikit ?
« on: September 07, 2008, 03:37:07 AM »

To introduce Amos to new users I suggest an Amos Pro package that is lha'd and Installs on Amikit.

As the Amikit developer knows nothing about how to do this, he can simply install it on Amikit.

What do people think ?

Someone needs to look at the Amos Hard drive installer code though.

To get this forum more lively how about a team to re create Superfrog in Amos ?

I am quite busy right now with the Amos Manual, just an idea for others.

cheers, asy

hi

well.. "To get this forum more lively" I think we should make AMOS GAME COMPETITION where the amos programmers could make and show to others their games. The problem is how and where to get a sponsor for good prizes  ???

Dear Friends:

I like the idea of an amos competition. I suggest to do this, but instead of material prizes, to give honorable mentions. For example, to give first, second, and third place, and an honorable mention. We can make a certificate for each winning place, and publish the results of the competition. what do you think?

Hi Red

It's also good idea. The question is what kind will be fairly score system (to chose winners) and how many people will patrticipate in compo because if only 3 programmers will join competition there is no sense to rival :P

yes, count me in.

if there is only 3 of us, it is still good. We can still split between us the 3 places, and code our best games to share with the amos community. the goal is not to win, but to keep interest alive in amos programming.
Bye !!!

I might be able to take part. It just depends on what timescale we are talking about. When does the competition start and finish??

Ofcourse it will be rather mini-game competition just for fun in this case.

i would partake, but it would mean abandoning other projects to work on something that would probably below-standard.

now -> christmas is far too short a time!

Don't know if the original topic is still followed but are you sure that Amos can be freely distributed? or included in any package?
Jan (AmiKit's developper) won't included it if the author doesn't give permission.

BTW, it's may be easier to include Amos installer in AmiKit's package and let interested people install it themselves? That's what I've done on my USB key. (AmiKit+Amo pro)

The AmosPro packages posted to this site were originally from Back2Roots.org but when that site went down we needed to host them here.  I suppose permission could be asked from the main author who works at ClickTeam.com now.

getting this topic back on-topic, I'm happy to provide a good setup of Classic WB ( http://classicwb.abime.net ) which includes AMOS and even Devpac, ReSource, DPaint & Octamed, should anyone want it.

One thing i like about ClassicWB is how light it is compared to most pre-installed amiga setups, meaning its great for both emualtion and real-amiga usage.
