[Project Moved 05/03/2012]
As this project is, in essence, part of the AMOS Pro Resource Kit, the dbODF project plan has been combined with the AMOS Pro Resource Kit Project Breakdown/Plan.

Any comments/discussion about the dbODF project should be made in the "AMOS Manuals / AMOS Pro Resource Kit Project" thread.

FOL I was wondering if you have the facilities to cater for this e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL or similar, just wondering if this was feasible on your site and if you would be happy to host such a system?

I am toying with the idea of a database driven documentation development system. FOL I was wondering if you have the facilities to cater for this e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL or similar, just wondering if this was feasible on your site and if you would be happy to host such a system.

The idea is to have a table or set of tables for each document which both myself and bruceuncle could upload/download new records, edit current records in place, or upload and replace records. These tables would hold the content of the documents and structural information, styling and formatting would be done offline with other tools. As I have said I'm just toying with the idea at the moment.

Alternatively and may be a better idea, we could possible use an XML based system to upload/download/edit records based on a standard document structure, Document Structure Description (DSD) or DocBook XML schema languages. I'm actually liking the XML idea more.

But how would we go about a web frontend to either of these?

Thinking hats on gentlemen.

I can cater for this, but lack the time to code anything like you need.
If you want a sql db and access to folder on server that files can be linked to, I can give you access to this.
I can also give you a custom sub domain like amos_docs.ultimateamiga.co.uk etc etc.

Cheers FOL.

I'll look further into the design requirements and set up an SQL DB webserver on my other system, once the design/coding is done on that I'll get back to you. :)
