Pro Game Artist back, and want to help rejuvenate Amos!
« on: July 23, 2015, 02:48:53 PM »

Hi Everyone,
This is Mike Parent, back again.  I've been very busy with Spriter related stuff, client work (creating mobile and pc games for other people) and wrapping up previous commitments, but am still very interested in helping to create a much better, easy to use, and more powerful game authoring system for classic OCS, ECS and AGA Amigas.

I need at least one really strong Amos programmer, with strong familiarity with using TOME and AMAL whose willing to work with me on a demo (PAID), and want to also consider setting up "bounties" for specific AMOS extensions or example-code/sub routines.

These are my plans:
1) Create a new demo with great art/animations and showing ideal use of dual playfield (7 colors each ) plus (8 three color)  sprites on OCS/ECS to make visually stunning games that rival megadrive games like the original Sonic, etc. (I've got the methodology/palette use, trickery worked out, but need help making it happen in Amos... to fully achieve this I'll need help with controlling a copper list in AMOS)

2) Create very small but very useful new tools to help with the tricks I mentioned above.

3) Continue to add to the demo, adding AMOS extensions or example code as needed... empowering the community all along the way.

4) Eventually get to a finished game. (just keep refining and adding to the demo until its a full game)

5) If we make the game properly, and with extra work along the way, basically have created the foundation to a new, improved version of BackBone... Start an open-source initiative to further improve its feature set and ease of use.

I've got a lot of specific things in mind. respond if you've got strong AMOS programming skills and/or strong Amos extension making skills etc.

Thanks,
Mike

Before we go any farther, have you looked at http://aminet.net/package/dev/amos/beast_scroll?  It's about as good as you can get without writing custom copper-lists from scratch.

Thanks for the link to this demo, but this is completely different from what I'm after. This is very horizontally locked, where I'm after something more useful for full on 8 direction scrolling Sonic.Megaman/Mario style games.

I look forward to discussing it with you further.

Cheers.
