Supporting PSPUAE development
« on: April 15, 2007, 01:45:53 PM »

I really enjoy PSPUAE, and want to support/donate.  What is the best way of supporting PSPUAE and fabulous game save states?

A WHDLoad registration request (with load delay) popped up today when I loaded Cannon Fodder Christmas (downloaded from pspuae.com), maybe registering WHDLoad is the way to go?  Or is it better to support PSPUAE directly somehow?

Thanks for the kind post.

You can help support us in many ways, like, making savestates, translating the readme to your native language, etc etc.

As for WHDLOAD, its best if horace takes this question.

Hi monti,

your appriciateion is definately welcomed, thankyou.

just to clear a few things up, WHDLoad is not in any way connected to PSPUAE officially. WHDLoad is primarity intended to run old amiga games, on higher spec amigas, from HD. This however, has great benefits for an emulator user too, as it can mean a much cleaner process for running games.... no extended loading times, no floppy disk swapping and no need for changes to the emulated amiga configeration. (as you have no doubt experienced using the savestates)

I myself play all my amiga games that i play on WinUAE using WHDload installed versions, and would actively promote other winuae users to do the same. However, as you have noticed, there is a registration fee. Justified i feel, when you consider that WHDLoad (and the game slaves) are still in development to this very day.

i therefore will -always- encourage our savestate users to register WHDLoad, as without it, the concept would probably not exist... or at least not for as many titles, and under the right guidance, WHD and it's keyfile can be used whenever running amiga emulation. It also makes the WHD experience faster, and with more games supported.

However, you could help pspuae more directly, simply by popping into chat and having a few words! Perhaps you'd like to know how to make your own savestates to add to the site (see www.whdload.de for a full list of supported games) if you think you have the general amiga-usage knowledge to do so... or perhaps there are other fields where you think you might be able to help out?

any help anyone can give is always welcomed, and we hope you'll remain an active member of our community if nothing else.  :D

Hi again, thanks for your detailed reply.  It's appreciated.  WHDload seems like a more than worthy receiver of donations, I'll send some cash for beer and sushi (or pizza?).  PSPUAE should get their own Paypal account as well, though, your developers deserve every penny they can get.

As for contributing to the scene, I'm afraid I don't have much spare time these days.  Work and other (mosty open source) projects take most of my development time.  I could do some beta testing if you need it, but I guess you have all the testing ppl you need :)

Anyway, take care and keep up the good work!
