Great program! but this nOOb needs a little help in the back
« on: January 09, 2007, 10:22:08 PM »

First of all, I just want to say that this is a great programm. If I can play Amiga games on my psp.... fantastic, grew up with it and nothing beats the original settlers.
Unfortunatly I would like to ask your help.....

I have a PSP with firmware 2.60, downloaded the TIFF exploit from Fanjita version 0.9.9 Markerzer and downloaded various versions of the PSPuae, I list them in my directory (PSP/game) add a kickrom (did not need to download as I am an avid Amiga gamer and put everything on pc) version 1.3, 1.4, 2.0. 3.0,3.1 and a couple of games (settlers, turrican, xenon 2) When I started my PSP, used the TIFF it lists the PSPuae. when I boot the programm it either freezes pitch black, or loads the menusplash (christmas edition or the 0.61 edition) and then it chrashes immediately.
Please help me as I want one thing settlers on the train.

Thanks

How are you naming the kickroms? they need to be: kick10, kick11, etc etc.
As Horace said in another thread, are you using over dumped roms? they need to the be the normal 1`s about 512kb for 1.3 (example)
Also, make sure you dont have a config1 in the configs folder.

If you are cotinuing to have problems, let me know, ill send a all in 1 solution. Which includes the last known working tiff exploit and latest pspuae 062 ce, this package is confirmed working, all you have to do is read the readme <----- Important and supply the kickroms and games / apps.

The nOOb gets it now, and is even tinkering with the configuration

When I saw your reply, I checked, I listed it as Kick13.rom and had no configuration1 in my config file. I read your readme about 10x tried PSPuae 0.41 till the latest cristmas version and it kept crashing after the main page loaded.

 I tried the following.

I previously had PSPgenesis on my PSP, as I like Dune 2 almost as much as Settlers 1. I removed the PSP genesis and all other items. reinstalled the christmas edition of PSPuae, along with one kickrom (only1.3 as you listed the size in your post which was identical to my file) and ..... it worked perfectly.

I immediately tried settlers and noticed a little detail, only 2 drivers are listed but settlers is 3 disks. I know that disk one is the intro, two contains the sound and disk three the game itself, so first time I only saw the intro and secondly I tried the game and it worked perfectly. sound is a little off but sir this is gaming genius. Enjoying it A LOT. does the kickrom depend which amiga you emulate ? if I use kickrom 3.1 does that provide me with a more superior amiga than the kickrom 1.3 ?

Thank you for making the emulator compatible with the PSP, I noticed that you play command and conquire on your psp (me wants that too)
I have the original PAL versions for PS1 of C&C, C&C retaliation and C&C Red alert. let me know if you have them all.

again, a very very nice emulator on my psp (guide is already changed to a Settlers one thanks to the screenshot)
do you plan on updating it further ?

Hey mon,

Settlers... mmm, settlers is great :-)  love it... BUT I dont know about playing it portable ....  I mean if you're on a train you wont get far, heh! ... I guess in the home would be alright... ANYWAYS I wanted to say that if you use the savestates that are available on this website, you may need kickstart 3.1, as the guys here pretty much design the states to run on only 3.1.

For the most part, 3.1 doesnt update MUCH (for games), however it really helps when creating startup-sequences as theres more/different commands that can be used.

When Settlers was made, it was designed to run on most Amigas (if you remember), but the more ram or CPU speed you had, the more details you could have in-game.  If you were stuck on a 1mb amiga 500, you could only have a certain world size, aswell as 10% sound-fx with no music... upgrade to 2mb then you had 100% sound and music (best upgrade I ever bought for the amiga!) ...  with a higher CPU speed, you could have a MASSIVE world-size aswell as full music and sound. - basically, Settlers had a GREAT design that worked flawlessly.  (NONE of the sequels lived up to the first one!)

PSX emulator on the PSP, yeaaahh :-)  I just "recieved" retaliation... but I'd like to play the original CnC or RA on the PSX :-)  ... I've spent a LONG TIME wishing for a portable copy of any of these games.

we usually use kick 3.0 for the states emu, not 3.1.

Settlers & Dune II are amongst the savestates on the front page.... make sure to check the list on the right, and the state-database ar the top-centre too. (in time that will be the -only- set of states on there, but we are in a period of "transition" hehe)

i think the savestate allows up to map-size 5, which aint bad considering the maximum is 8, and that is stupidly large.

Aye, i love command and conquer, and the new save state i have setup for DUNEII, runs damn well with the current release, ;). As Horace said we are in the process of updating and moving the States to a Database, but this will not be active for regular members until im happy i have fixed all the bugs in the DB. So until then you will have to use the old states on the right side of front page.

Are you on 3.03 OE A or B? if you are then I would sugguest, using Alcohol 120% and psx2psp, basically Alcohol lets you convert your psx games to .img and then you use psx2psp to convert them for playing on the psp. To add CDDA Audio tracks you need to put the .ccd file from the .img in the psx2psp/files/ folder and then convert, it will then give you CDDA Audio. Also best to select option pal2ntsc and it will make your pal game run as best it can, it aint perfect, but good enough until a better solution is found.

C&C and RedAlert rule, rather play them than new 1`s, bit like pspuae, the older games still have the game play, unlike alot of new games.

I work far from home, and travel 1.5 hours in the morning and back. Great game (with saves need to check) I expect to spend the time.
I currently have a PSP (Ceramic the original JP release wOOt) with 2.60, I am a bookkeeper and know nothing about computers, so I do not want to update to a illegal firmware.... have downloaded it though. I like the idea I bought about 250 PSone games, and they would be great on psp. I really like james pond robocod and bought the Genesis version and after that PSone version, however the emulator PSPgenesis plays it better than the official release on the PSone. Love C&C probably as much as you do, and seeing the screens makes me burn in desire. Front mission, FFVII C&C, Final fantasy tactics, saga frontier wiewowwie

I like settlers 2 the best, adds a couple of welkom additions such as no longer needing to click on the blocks for a path, adding beer, different races. It builds on the shortcomings of Settlers1 however I played part 1 years  ;D really

I downloaded the save stats for Settlers, and looked in the forum how to use..... but as soon as I set the settings (chipset RAM etc) as described it crashes when loading the rom. I listed the kickstart 3.0 as kick30.rom as you instructed. when I load kick30 and then the savestat it crashes immediately. Is it possible on my version. When I update my firmware to 3.03 A or whatever it is called, can I go back to 2.60.....

and is it possible to have multiple emulators (want really only PSPuae and PSPgenesis) listed and both usable ?

Well, if your not comfortable with downgrading and installing Custom Firmware, then I would leave it, as you could destroy your psp.

I know why it crashes, your using the tiff / gta exploit, ;), it cant use as much memory as the 1.00 / 1.50 psp version.

I think you need to configure the savestate with Kick30 first, then save the configuration....  oh and then load up the savestate again...  it should work then :)

what you're doing at the moment is basically loading up an amiga game, then changing the kickstart ROM whilst its still on....  it needs a reset baby!
