Well back in the day I had an Amiga while my bro had a snes so I got to play the best of both worlds.

Each system had their own top titles. :)

What I would really love (I know I'm dreaming here) would be if on the nintendo wii retro virtual console they started putting up amiga games. :)

oh, i should have mentioned.... it also amuses me that a lot of people/nintendo fans  take my dislike of snes (well, most nintendo actually) games bizarelly personally - people getting up-in-arms about it happens with the snes a lot more than it does with anything else!!

it's only a games-sytem remember...   people call the zx-speccy crap all the time, yet its one of the most innovative systems out-there imho, but it's best not to take it all too seriously!

I think each system has their own top titles... even a speccy! - (despite the graphics heh).....

NES : one to look out for is "River City Rumble" ...  cross between Streets of Rage and and RPG by the guys who made double dragon - awesomE! - completed this a month back!

saying that "protecting machines like youre up in arms" - isnt that what you're doing HH?  You're protecting the speccy and amiga like nothing compares...   its like you've never even tried one properly without one bit of bit of prejudice....

I'm not a Nintendo fanboy-  ... but I'll say that there are some VERY fine games in the 80's and 90's era that need uncovering. :> - that goes for the Amiga, Megadrive, SNES, NES, Speccy and whatever system you wish....  only thing you need to do is to keep your mind open for different things.

the difference being Emu, is that although i hold speccy and amiga in high regard, if someone says something about not liking their games, i tell people that -i- think they are wrong and leave it at that...  They are -my- favourite systems, and it only for myself that i take that viewpoint. everyone else is free to like what they like, but some people need to just accept that not everyone will share their viewpoint.

i'm not pointing any finger at you here, i just see nintendo fans (across many forums) taking my criticism of the games very very personally, and this is what i find amusing :D

even if i find a handful of snes-exclusive games i do like, (you are right, they must be there somewhere) i will still see it as an overrated system, as it is one that is given a ridiculous "pinacle of gaming" status by certain people imho.... especially considering ive found more games on the SNES's time-period rival the Megadrive which have entertained me.   as it stands i've still yet to find the SNES games that live up to what i want, and i am not sure i am that bothered to when i have systems i am more interested in which i have not found all the best of yet (amiga included)

also the generation of gamer (a few years younger than most of us chumps!) the snes has spawned are damn right irritating!

I do have to say, systems come and go, the best system/games is still a matter of personal opinion. For me there has never been a system like the Amiga. There has never been so many games that gave you the OMG or WOW factor or a gaming moment that you will never forget as was on the Amiga for me. The times I had and continue to have will be with me for the rest of my life and I THANK THE MIGHTY AMIGA for this!

;)  second!

hehe ;)  -  yeah it's your opinion and you'll stand by that...  I think Ive tried 90% of the snes games and liked only around 20-30%, but they were awesome...  the same goes for the Amiga in that case....  - but when the pc / emulation was new to me, I tried thooousands of games- seriously!  ...  thats all I did.....  just play games...  and found that megadrive and snes games took most my time up in that regard.

SnesPSP_TYL is a great emulator.  It's run at 100% speed in most games I've tried.

And although I'm an Amiga fan above all else, the SNES contained a lot of great titles, especially RPGs.  I would even go as far as to say it was the best 16-bit platform for the genre if you take all releases across all regions because most of the US RPGs never reached Europe.

I would highly recommed:

Zelda: Link to the Past
All the SNES Final Fantasy releases.  US releases plus the English translations of the Japanese only games in the series.
Earthbound
Tales of Phantasia
Chrono Trigger (possibly one of the greatest RPGs to date!)
Breath of Fire 1 and 2
Secret of Mana
Lufia 1 and 2
Front Mission
Ogre Battle
Romance of the Three Kingdoms II, III, IV
Harvest Moon
Super Mario World
Super Metroid
Super Mario Kart
Darius Twin
R-Type III
Donkey Kong Country
F-Zero
Mortal Kombat II (second SNES game included blood, unlike first)
Ninja Gaiden Trilogy
Pilot Wings
Prince of Persia (best version of the original)
Putty Squad (was actually released, unlike the Amiga version :( )
Shadowrun
Smash Tennis (still the best tennis game to date!)
Super Bomberman 2 (4 games released on the SNES, 2nd is still my favourite)
StarFox (Starwing)
Streetfighter II Turbo
Super Star Wars
Super Empire Strikes Back
Super Return of the Jedi
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Super Mario All Stars
Super R-Type
Yoshi's Island
Paper Mario

That list is getting quite long so I will stop there.  Those are just my favourites I've played the most, and I missed out games that were also released on the Amiga such as Turrican 1 and 2.
