Working on an Amiga workbench 1.x XMB theme...
« on: February 23, 2010, 02:58:25 PM »

Wasn't sure where to post this.  Cosmetic look seemed as good as any...

Nothing super flashy.  I put it together with the Sony theme builder.  Let me say its supposed to look like workbench 1.x (Any version 1 WB).  I'v actually got the theme running on my psp but it also needs a bit more work to smooth over some rough corners.  I did my best to draw an association between some of the Icon's that I borrowed from actual workbench.  For instance, the ram disk icon I used for the memory stick and system options I used the system preferences icon (the one that looks like the cpu with a question mark).  However, other things like RSS channel I drew from scratch in workbench fashion of course.

Anyway, once the theme is how I want it I'm going to drop in the intellifont to make it feel more authentic and also an idea I have for a custom gameboot.

I posted this here cause I figured most of you PSP/Amiga fan's would get a kick out of it.  Once I get everything done I'll get a video up and possibly the files you'll need to pull it all together.

Nice,

I avoided 1.3 as its lacking in the icon department.
Post some pics of your progress, use the screenshot plugin, it works well.

I still have somewhere the icons and stuff for the ClassicWB I was last working on.

I think my favorite theme though has to be the AmigaSYS4 theme I done 2 years ago (I think).

Here's my OS3.9 Theme -->http://pspuae.condor.serverpro3.com/index.php/topic,489.msg4691.html#msg4691 (First theme I attempted)

Here's my OS4 Theme --> http://pspuae.condor.serverpro3.com/index.php/topic,491.msg4724.html#msg4724

I was hosting a PSP theme site. Until some waster decided to hack it and destroy it.

Nice! I like both of those.  I figured someone else had messed with the XMBWB theme.  Actually I showed dad what I was working on and he asked why I didn't try to make a WB 3 or 4, as you said there would more of an icon pool and it would look a little more modern.  Well I guess now I can show him those 2. :^)

Yeah I'll post pictures up soon.  I want to make sure it looks decent.  I figured going with 1.x would help capture the nostalgia as much as you possibly could with the older Amiga machines.

Looking at these old WB pictures for the last 3 or 4 days reminds me of my 9th birthday when I got my Amiga 500. :)

Best tip I can give is; Run WinUAE in as large resolution as possible. Then screenshot and save all the icons you want.
Now when you come to use them, you need to down size em, so they will become pin sharp and clear.

I used this method for all the themes I done and my venus avatar here.

Well I have one put together. I'll throw up some screen shots shortly.  Keep in mind its not anything aesthetically spectacular. It is 1.3 afterall. :)
