Sound settings...
« on: April 08, 2008, 05:24:11 PM »

Hello! ;D

Ok, 0.71 is clearly the finest release so far! :D I guess we all know how superior this emulator is, so I will just put my question:

I know that it is not possible to have a smooth game and smooth sound at the same time, but is there an option to have the game run sluggish (high frameskip for example) but the music smooth? I did not find one setting or one game where I could simply listen to the music :-\ Actually my sound output does not change whatever setting or game I use (frameskip or not, doesn't even matter). Am I doing something wrong? I could also not find out what the 0.70 legacy "sound bug" option is that you implemented. Whatever option I select the sound is crackling. I would like to hear the music from "The Seven Gates of Jambala" for example (regardless of any framerate issues). Is this possible?

Thanks! ;)

i'm not sure, but i think 0.70b release was better than 0.71. FOL or horace will be able to tell you for sure.
I've stuck with 0.70b myself, it seems slightly faster.  :-\

I think FOL missed something on 0.71 release, sure he mentioned it. He will sort it out, i'm sure - he seems busy at moment.

the sound is still not A1 if you want to listen to your favorite Amiga sound track, although some games sound ok, bubble bobbles a good example.

the psp speaker system isn't exactly the best way to easy listen your favourite amiga score.

why not run your game through Winuae and hook up an mp3 recorder to your Pc and record output through your soundcard.

I can understand where your coming from, sound is important to me to, it'is often overlooked as an issue, everyone wants more speed!

Indeed, I did miss something. I have already corrected it and uploaded it to beta section, not sure if its been tested as i upped it before my break. I ment to give you link for you to test it. If you want delta, ask horace if you could hook you up, so you can test it.

@Dimahoo
The sound bug wasnt an option in 070, it was a bug. I made it an option in 0.71, so you could get a little more speed as it only showed up in some games. I have some more idea's up my sleave, just working on updating the sites on pspuae.com network at the moment.

So I will be back to working on pspuae soon.
