Jim Power has more than 32 colours. Also Odyssey used a trick to display more than 32 :)

Hypothesis: Current scientific thought suggests we have already achieved max rocking level.

Perhaps max-rocking levels could be radically increased with creation of 30ft tall motion controlled guitar thrashing robot simulacrum.

Result: We rocked the f*ck out.

Doesn't Universe use some sort of clever technical wizardry to display 256 colours on an A500?

Not sure about 256, but yes it used way more than 32. Now that I think about it, I might have confused Odyssey with Universe... don't ask ;)

I guess copper backgrounds don't count?  :P

Black Crypt used a technique called "halfbrite" mode - 64 colours onscreen on a standard A500 if I remember rightly.

EDIT: Here it is!!
