Has my search come to an end?
« on: September 24, 2008, 08:20:56 AM »

Hello :)

A long time ago (too long) I used to be a graphics artist in the demo scene. I wasn't very good at coding back then so I experimented with Amos in my spare time. I made some demos and they got sent to the Amos PD library, to Sandra Sharkey at first, and then later on Len and Anne Tucker who lived not far from me in Swansea.

I even met them a couple of times and optimised the code on their totally amos disk mag for them :)

For the last few years, maybe 5 years or so I am back in the demo scene, I am a programmer now using all kinds of languages, every now and then I get nostalgic and I just yearn to find some of the old things I have released.

Now I know that all the stuff I want is on the CD of the Amos PD library, I was even given a copy of that CD by Len Tucker the last time I saw him (shortly after he had moved to Southend), but I have lost that CD.

Does anyone have any clues of how I could get hold of that CD?
Specifically I am after;

APD607 - Digital Orgasm II

I don't really care about the other things on the CD, it's that one that I really want because it has a picture on it that I don't have anywhere else and I'd really like to see it again.

I'll check back, hopefully someone can find it, you'd make a nearly 40 year old big kid very happy.

Best regards to anyone here who I may have crossed paths with back in the 80's and 90's !

Shock,

I'll see what I can find this week. I know I have APD's 1 to 100, but I'm not sure how far my collection goes (on various CD's).

Do you have any of the GPDS?

Cheers.

Hi,

I have found APD607 with Digital Orgasm II. Not sure if the images are on the disk, since most of the files have bizarrely short names, but I have attached a .DMS version of the disk which I had to put in a .zip file to able to upload it! Why aren't .DMS files allowed??

To get the demo to work I had to set up an assign first:

Assign new_art: df0:

Not sure if that is good or bad news, but after doing that the demo worked perfectly. It's a pretty impressive AMOS demo too.

For those that care, it turns out I appear to have (I haven't checked that the rest of the .DMS files are good) APD001 to APD638. They are on a PD CD I got off ebay called "AMOS PD Lib 2" which also has "www.amiga-software.com.au" on the CD.

Thanks Lonewolf :)

I disguised the file names so that other Amos demo makers at the time would not know what each file did, but it's ok, I know what they all do :) Thats why they are really obscure..

The whole demo ran in full frame rate on an A500, this meant that I had to precalculate all the vectors into banks (some other amos authors had a habit of stealing these banks and using them in thier own stuff) so any disguises I could add were a help..

You've made me really happy!

Btw the archive you've added wouldn't run of course because the disk name is wrong ;)

Anyway I have created a new adf file (for use in winuae)

There is a hidden part too.

After you click past the stupid amos pd advert, keep constantly pressing the fire button on joystick
If the screen fades from white to black you found it.. There is a lot of bad language in there though, I warn you!
