Fblit and AMOS not getting along?
« on: February 21, 2011, 12:22:35 PM »

Just out of curiosity, have any compatibility issue between AMOS and Fblit ever been reported? I've just noticed that in my 3.9 partition the very first thing AmosPro will do on loading if, and only if, Fblit is working is bring the whole machine into Guru-land.

Just wanted to be sure wether Fblit is the one to blame or maybe there could be any other cause.

I never had any problems running AMOS with Fblit but when playing about doing some Tile scrolling - FBlit greatley improved the affect.

So I wouldnt recommend having Fblit running unless you intend your program to always run with Fblit because it will give a false representation of how your program would run on non FBlit setup.

Yup, you're right. My 3.9 partition suffers from severe random crashing and I took the wrong conclussion after several misleading coincidences. It's good to know that Fblit actually gives AMOS a push. As most of my AMOS time is spent writting my text adventure (where the effect hardly shows) I hadn't even noticed (oh yeah, my never-ending AMOS text adventure project is alive and well, though slowly progressing ^_^')

Sorry for the false alarm. Anyway, untill I find what's happening It seems I'll keep doing my AMOS stuff on the 3.1 side of life!  :D

fblit is installed by default on classicWB right?

I wish I'd even considered switching if off for "genuine" performance before!! Great tip BooBoo.
