New to AMOS - what to install
« on: February 06, 2012, 09:45:05 PM »

Decided to learn my 9 year old some programming (work as a programmer my self)- and want him to learn it on Amiga. So I downloaded Amos PRO 1.0 - but I can see some other archives in the download section - for example AMOS Professional 2.0 Update. Is it supposed to be installed on top of 1.0?

Anything else I need - any patches or must-have extensions?

Regards, Bitman (Denmark)

Hi Bitman, welcome to the site.

I would recommend jumping straight-in with AMOS Pro 2.00 Disks, which I have re-uploaded here;

AMCAF is a great extension in terms of bringing a few speed improvements and replacement Commands, and TOME is excellent for anything which might involve drawing-up maps (e.g. a platform or adventure game) .... but I dont think ay are really needed if you are just helping the little-one get used to the programming concepts!

good luck with your teaching!

AMOS 2, has been installed and is running. Has started writing a programmers manual for kids (in Danish) - since the available online-manuals is english only.

OT: Last night i picked up 4 X A1200 all loaded with HD's and Blizzard cards (2x1220, 2x1230), so nice.....

how did you get all those a1200's? I would be willing to buy a blizzard card if you want to sell one?

The stuff belonged to a senior citizen, who had used it for daily stuff and MIDI- from the filedates it looks like it has been used recently (in the 2000's) - somehow the stuff found it's way to a recycling station where the guy I bought it from took it from.

I've not decided yet, what to do with all those Blizzards, but I'll let you know if I want to part with one of them
