Still stubbornly clinging to my Amiga legacy...
« on: August 29, 2011, 03:11:01 AM »

Hi,
My second and third computers were an A1200 and an A400T, respectively.  I also have an AmigaOne which I was unfortunately never able to get to work.
These days I'm using Linux, which I find adequate, though awkward compared to AOS.  I've never been able to get any of the versions of Amiga Forever that I've purchased to work in Linux, and I'm hoping that you folks here at Ultimate Amiga can get me back into the world of my favourite OS.

What A1, you got?
I had to disable Front USB ports just to get it to boot.

What machine are you running linux on?
If its a PC, you may want to look at aros.

Um...I'm not sure what version it is; maybe revision 2 of the MB?  I got it to boot three or four times, but just about the time I started to move data onto it, it suddenly wouldn't boot anymore.  Makes a good doorstop, though.
I'm running OpenSuSE 11.4 on an ASUS G73Jh laptop.  I've obviously been away too long.  What's aros?

Is it an XE or Micro A1

That should explain about it.
You can put it on a DVD or usb stick and boot it from there, to test if it will run on your ASUS.

   IIRC it's an XE.
I believe I'll download the Linux x86_64 version of AROS and see what it's like.
