What's your hardware gaming history?
« on: August 16, 2006, 04:43:29 PM »

From your first bit of hardware up to your current setup.

I'm just interested in knowing what hardware you peeps on this forum have owned over time.

I'll kick things off with my list (and its not a game of one-upmanship so no pretending to have owned hardware just to make your list the biggest ;) )

Binatone TV Master 4 + 2 with Light gun
Spectrum 48k (rubber keyed)
Amiga A500
NES
Megadrive & Mega CD
Playstation
Amiga A1200
Dreamcast
N64
X-Box
PSP
3 different PC setups.  PII 500, PIII 800 and AMD 64 3500+ (current system).

That's pretty much the order I got them and with the exclusion of the Megadrive & CD (given to a cousin) I still have them in working order.

Remember, keep it to hardware you have owned and not ones your mates have owned and you played on.

<edit> Crud, can't believe I forgot that I also own a DC and N64.

Oh, do i have to, means I have to tidy the cables and dust off the motherboard, ;). I only wanted a 500 Watt PSU, so i bought the case just because of that, lol.

Also, I think we are dragging this off topic, sorry, Para.

All threads are meant to go off-topic at some point, its the nature of a forum to do so  ;D

Nah, off-topic can be as much fun as the topic being discussed.  Plus I'm sure someone will post their hardware history at some point to drag in back into line.

Should mention that I edited my post to include the Dreamcast and N64 yeasterday as I totally forgot I own them (due to the fact I very rarely play them).

it occureed to me that i didnt really play games on my first PC.... only The Sims for a bit. (so should it really be in my "gaming history"

only reason i started playing on my current one was because i got a PS2 pad -> USB convertor for emualtion use.

also i should have added: Game & Watch: Donkey Kong Jr at the beginning.

my speccy +3 power supply just died.... so i trundled into the loft to look for the lost one from my +2A.

whilst scavenging through a few boxes... "ooh look, an a500 in little bits, and a cd32 in little bits - must be my old broken one"

"but what's this?? another cd32? all together and looking tidy?"

lo and behold, there it is. now tested and fully functioning. My mum's pleased. the motor on hers is getting dodgy and she has to rest something on the top to make it spin. now she has a spare, though i've told here not to use it until the current one no longer loads (at which point i'll repair it for her)

quite a nice little find.  still, i need to get back up there and look for that +2A PSU....

edit:

ok, this is getting wierd now. i've just found ANOTHER Cd32. again, it seems to work fine.

people really must have abanonded a lot of computers with me. either that or they are multplying.
