I thought it was about time for me to make my entry at the new PSPUAE forum.
I want to make sure everyone understands the foundation for the 0.51 release of PSPUAE and who that should have credit for it.
PSPUAE 0.51 is based on E-UAE version 0.8.29-WIP2 that is maintained by Richard Drummond on
E-UAE Homepage. E-UAE in turn is based on uae and WinUAE and incorporates some of the enhancements from WinUAE. E-UAE is open-source software and is made available under the terms of the GNU GPL.
PSPUAE also inherits some of the PSP code from the previous 0.41 version by Christophe Thibault.
The above persons should have the main credit for PSPUAE as they have been creating the vast amount of code for PSPUAE.
So what have I been doing! - below is a list of new features in the 0.51 release compare to 0.41
- Support for 1.5 PSPs
- better game compatibility based on E-UAE-0.8.29-WIP2
- zoom function using the GU to allow you to use all PSP screen estate
- vertical leds including leds for framerate and frameskip
- double buffering to avoid flickering
- direct vram access (not much faster than using the GU)
- kickstart selector
- savestate (this is also a much faster way to load games)
- several new options although fewer than the last beta
- lower sensitivity when the analog stick is used as a joystick
- real 4 channel sound like the original amiga (still some issues though)
The source of PSPUAE 0.51 is no secret and should be available as open-source under the terms of the GNU GPL. As soon as I have cleaned it up I will release it on the development forum of this site.
I want everyone to understand that I have limited time available to develop on PSPUAE so if others developers want to assist with the development feel free to do so but I suggest we try to coordinate who does what on PSPUAE.
