PSOne Emulator
« on: July 11, 2006, 08:33:16 PM »

Me thinks im going to have to an U.P. Chip, cause I dont want to loose 1.5. Or buy another PSP.
Think I`ll wait for the Emu to be released, before deciding.

True, but that might never happen. Id rather that way than voiding my 5 year warranty on my free PSP, ;). Even though im a qualified service engineer for said company as an authorised independant, they take a dim view of us looking at their equipment, funny buggers, lol

sounds like it was gonna be fw 3.0 only.

sadly, it seems highly unlikely that iso's will be useable, sony wll probably modify all the ps1 games they release.... but *maybe* they'll do a ps1 cd -> psp convertor, for those people with original ps1 games....

knowing how much sony love the £££$$$£££ though, we'd probably be made to buy all our old games again.... so i doubt i'll bother  ::)

You got no hope of a converter, as this opens the door to piracy, :(

maybe if the convertor encoded the files with the mac address of the PSP or something, so it only worked on the one machine? ;)

i'm just thinking out loud more than anything with this one though.

I do believe that Sony are going the digital download route for the PS1 Emu stuff.  Log on to their portal, choose a game, pay a small fee for it and then download it to your pc where it can then be transferred over to the PSP.

I think that still stupid, I have over 50 Original PSOne games, why should I pay for them again. Thats whats annoying, wish SONY would pay more atension to making Quality than grabbing cash all the time.

plus if that IS the case, crackers are gonna have no problems about making the downloads run on all PSPs and distributing them across the net.... maybe they'll require fw1.5 ... but ooh no! tragedy!

if they let people rip the games themselves then they'd make no money because there was a LOT of copied games out for the ps1 and you can pick them up cheap now from 2nd hand shops so sony will make the files a .ps file or something but it won't be long before some smarta$$ cracks it.

i wont be getting the modchip, i'll just wait to see the feedback from the games that come out for the emu and how they've been converted to the psp control's.

there's a new firmware out on thursday BUT its not got the emulator with it :-(. thats only out in october apparently, so that will give them time to iron out any bugs for it ready for the x-mas rush of buying games.

Everything has been cracked, so will the offical PSemulator from Sony. Cannot see anyway they can stop it from being used for piracy.

And noway old games can be used with it. Ofcourse the games has to be purchase again, but more cheaper (would say maybe $9/game, no more, but maybe less).
*just speculation*  8)
