Running Slow
« on: October 29, 2006, 03:40:30 PM »

Hmmmm....

i love the Amiga and the emulator, but one question: i have installed the 0.6 version, have a valid kickrom and the games will load, but is not playable....

For example: i try Nicky Boum, the game loads but the speed of the game is verry slow (i would say: not much fun to play)... i am confused... i read the speed is verry well, maybe i have done something wrong ???

I tried Superfrog and the same will happen, game loads but is slow....The same with shadows of the beast....thats all my favorite games... so please someone can tell my if i do something wrong or the emulator is not fast enough to play this games with an funny speed....

FirmWare version you have, what settings have you tried?

Speed is very well, but not on everything, depends on settings to.

is it slow playing or slow loading times?  play with the frameskip maybe?

I tried Superfrog and found it works better when manually setting frame skip to 3 instead of auto.

Indeed, the options, have to be configured differently for different games. Its a case of finding the a decent config, alot work with the same config.

Ok, i tryed different settings with the games, now (in most cases) the games are playable. Thank you for the hints...

Answers to some questions: PSP with Firmware 1.5
Games slow on playing, but most fixed now with better settings, run verry well
Games slow on loading (but normal like the original Amiga)

Conclusion: Uphold the good work on this great emulator...

We know the speed isnt 100%, people keep going on about it and its annoying, Ric is working on giving it a speed increase using the FAME C core, its just a question of waiting and not rushing him. A fair majority of games are very playable.

On the loading score, try setting the Floppy speed to "TURBO", this in effect doubles the speed of the Floppy Emulation. This option however does not work for all games as they simply just guru, those games unfortunately need to have the option set to "NORMAL".
You could try mine and horaces savestate packs, as they are executed in RAM:, so no floppies are used, hence almost instant loading.

Bit confused by your last comment, "upload the good work"? Every update to PSPUAE is good in my opinion and thinkp`s updates to it, helped alot as atleast 5 or 6 things on the TO DO LIST are now done.

Click home, then scroll down, look on the right side.

The config file included in the new release is for them. There is 1 bug still left to fix in the loading of configs. when you load the config, you need to goto kickstart and select Kickstart 3.0. then load the savestate. if you dont reselect the kickstart it will guru upon loading.

For some reason it only saves the text (i.e. Kickstart 3.0) and not the physical option.
