for Stuart Campbell's review of SWOS 2006 go here:

http://worldofstuart.excellentcontent.com/swiz2/swiz2.htm

remember SC of Amiga Power? For me the magazine and especially he was an integral part of my Amiga gaming life. I loved that magazine, and still do. There has never been a games mag that could touch it. I didn't always agree with him, but in my eyes Stuart Campbell was and is a truth-sayer, like Johnny Warren (any Aussies here?) and Bill Hicks were truth-sayers. You knew their opinions were theirs, never influenced or led by commercial or corporate interests.

Believe me, no one loved SWOS as long or as hard as I. I was a grovelling, co-dependant slave to that game for years. Played SWOS briefly again on PC last night and i will conceed that in two-player mode i'm sure some of the old magic remains. But now Pro Evo is my game. I wish I had fast enough internet to play online, but the only servers are european and my lag just pisses people off. I've never played Winning Eleven because my Ps2 isn't chipped (!) so i can't comment about that.

I'm glad to see Dune getting mentions, that was another favourite. A unique game-novel RPG with some of the best game music ever heard. Runs pretty well on psp, but doesn't play great because it's mouse driven.

Also Formula One Grand Prix was brilliant. I had zero interest in F1 before this game, but now i have some (although it's died down somewhat). Used to play full-length 60 lap races and never got bored. No F1 game has captured me since - i got the official 2006 on Ps2, but it left me cold.

Its almost impossible to mention only 3 games when talking about the very best which the Amiga had to offer back in the good old days. Off the top of my head:

1. Civilization
2. Kick Off 2
3. Chaos Engine

... although any of the following titles could be on the top 3 as well: F/A 18 Interceptor, Alien Breed, Rail Road Tycoon, Millenium 2.2 & Deuteros, Secret of the Monkey Island, Champions of Krynn, Eye of the Beholder, Xenon 2, Blood Money, Elite, Carrier Command, Moonstone, Hunter,  Battle Squadron, It Came From The Desert, Speedbal 2, Colonization, Formula 1 GP,  Great Giana Sisters,  Zak McCracken, Lotus Turbo Challenge 2, Rally Cross Challenge, Stunt Car Racer, Pinball Dreams & Fantasies, Microprose Golf, Neuromancer, Project X and many other.

For me....

1. It came from the Desert.
2. Conflict : Middle East.
3. Wings of Fury.

Got them all on my PSP, Although wings of fury is very hard to control when you dont have a joystick.

I never owned an amiga myself. Used to play with a mates amiga fairly often. The games I remember most fondly are:

Wings
Ports of call
Silk worm.

1. Turrican 2
2. Supercars 2
3. Moonstone

... not to mention the many other games that kick arse :-)

I actually think that Lemmings deserves a mention here as it was a true Amiga game, not ported too well for the other platforms, Amiga version was pretty much the best version.

Any Lucas Art's adventures
-Monkey Island 1&2 mainly, but Indy's and Loom would be close 2nd and 3rd

Sensible Soccer
-SensibleSoccer.de ;)

Another World
-I've got too good at this now, so im starting to get bored, but still a great cinematic experience. The best half an hour movie you will ever play.
