Heh. I must admit I haven't actually tried any og the Lotus'es for a long time, so I might be wrong to dismiss it. I can't imagine it being as fun as, say, Wipeout, but I haven't tried, so who am I to judge?
Still love Stunt Car Racer, though. Nothing like that around these days.
...and why aren't anyone able to do a better pinball game than the pinball dreams-series? Those not only age with style, they are still way better than anything else I've tried. If I had no interest in the Amiga and retro stuff I'd still go for one from that series rather than anything released later on.
Now this thread is getting interesting,
. As I have always said, I would rather play Amiga games, purely for the gameplay and lastability. I still play them all now, and the best thing is, commodore didnt hold back on quality as amiga's are still running today. Sure they might have had the odd production problem, but name me 1 thing today that actually lasts like the amiga and other home computers of that time.
My kids werent around in the Amiga rein. However they love it and the games as I did, when i was a little older than my eldest. My brother is 1 of these, move on people. The best thing is the new games he buys for his Xbox, pc, are finished with in a week, and thats it. Im still trying to finish Amiga games I never finished back when they were fresh.
My favorite game has to be DUNE, played alot and lost count of how many times i have finished it. That game had a couple of ways to end it, but it just kept calling to me, even after finishing it. The GUI, the music, the gfx, they were all spot on.
Stunt car racer, is 1 of those classic's, spent many a day on this game, playing it over and over. As are the lotus's and super car's. Like Emu, I prefer Super Cars 1, as Super Cars 2 went over the top abit, still a good game though. As for lotus, my favorite has to be Lotus 2, and playing it over killera (when it works) is great.
Pinball Dreams, IS still as fresh as the day it was released. I remember 3 or 4 of us gathering round an Amiga in my dads shop, with jaws dropped. It was a perfect pinball simulation in every way. I have not come across anything that comes close to it even today. Pinball Fantasies, was great also, basically it was like an addon, as in different tables. The jury is still out on Pinball Illutions (was that even 21st Century), never really played it.
Anways, thats my ramble,
.
